Platinum gives you access.

I'm typically early to everything.

Stop by the lounge for a bite to eat and a cocktail. Also, a nice break from the typical airport shitbirds.

Do you arrive early enough before a flight or stick around after a flight to actually go to a lounge

If I'm early enough, yes--I'll hang in the Centurion Lounge. It's nicer than any of the Admiral's Club Lounges and the food is MUCH better.

How is that helpful?

Delays, somewhat quieter business space, champagne (VERY helpful) when flying with Mrs. Crickets.

And, no--I don't go after flights. 1) You need an outbound boarding pass to enter and, 2) I'm not as big of a lush as I made myself sound like in my original reply.

Your boss let you use his card to get into one?

Oh...pffftt...I thought you needed the Centurion card at $2500 per year.

We use the AMEX Business Platinum and didn't even know about this But we typically fly out of IAH where strangely enough there isn't a Centurion Lounge. The SIA Lounge is great here.
IAH doesn't have any great lounges. If you ever find yourself connecting in Doha then you have to check out the Business Class lounge.

I go to the one in DFW every chance I get. Really is a nice lounge.

Did you use either lounge when you went to Dubai?

Yeah, I used the Qatar Airways lounge in IAH (I think they share it with someone else like Lufthansa or something) and it is meh but better than waiting out there with the screaming kids and people coughing all over each other. And yeah, I used the Business lounge in Doha before my skip over to Abu Dhabi. I had a driver take me to Dubai after a few days.

You're right. I should have said most domestic lounges suck. International lounges or US lounges in international departure sections are still really nice.

That's good news for sure. You don't happen to know where in D do you? Seems like I always fly out of D5.

Are you serious???

We were in Doha on our way to the Maldives in April. We had a 10 hour layover in Doha. I wish I would have known.

Yep. If you were looking at that big arse teddy bear, it is to your left. There's an escalator with a flight attendant looking person at the bottom of it who has to let you in. Go up the escalator and it is like paradise up there.

I want to say I read something that said it would be around D22/D24, but I'm not sure.

Nothing in an airport makes flying commercial worth it.

Nothing.

A lot of the international lounges are beautiful.

The last few domestic Delta lounges that I've been in were pretty nice and (this is important) not too busy. To me, they are like stepping into a quiet library from terminals that can often rival a crowded Wal Mart for annoying the shite out of me.
