I've heard of some frustration with West Fel recently but I don't think it's a bad district at all or related to the racial makeup.
Student issues at West Feliciana are a result of kids that were kicked out of other schools now using their grandmothers address to go to school there. Or it’s spoiled rich kids that have never been told no and their parents defend everything they do.
One thing I know about Zachary is that it has failed city leadership. Veteran police officers are leaving along with uncontrolled growth straining their infrastructure.

That is what is supposed to happen when there is a lot of rain in a short period of time…… Zachary does not have NEAR the problems central and Livingston have with water. In fact, it isn’t even close.

It does not flood everywhere in Zachary now. Not even remotely true. During the great flood of 2016 Home Depot east flooded. Outside of some splotchy areas, everyone else came out fine.
wrong

Like I said, it was in splotchy areas. Outside of east of Home Depot, Zachary did very well. Not sure what else to say about it.

If your child is not in all honors or AP courses, then stay out of Zachary schools and look to West Fel. I'm seeing many of the high-quality teachers moving over to West Fel. Basically, Zachary is experiencing middle to upper class flight to East and West Fel. Move in at your own risk.

The lil snow bunnies are rampant at West Fel.

I don’t think they planned for people to park on the street. Every house has a two car garage. Now, based on what I see in my own neighborhood many of them are probably hoarders who cannot fit a car in their garage but that wasn’t the intent of the developers.
Have you seen the size of those garages? It’s not a true two car garage. The only way you’re fitting two cars in there is if it’s a Prius and a Tesla.

As someone who’s trained LSU grads from private schools and public schools, I can guarantee you there isn’t much difference in their skill levels. I trained them for over 5 years, I’m not even 40 yet.
Truth be told, most kids lack creativity and that’s becoming the true X factor these days. Also, I’d take a candidate who wanted to prove themself over one with aesthetic resume credits.

I live in Central, so it's possible my information is biased, but I've always heard that Zachary property taxes are higher than surrounding cities or areas because of the school system. The system, although highly ranked and regarded, comes at a steep price.
So especially if you don't have school aged children, and therefore no reason to subject yourself to the property taxes, maybe you could/should consider Central, or areas outside of the Zachary school district.
Keep in mind that the Zachary School District is larger than the city itself. The school district boundary takes in the area occupied by Georgia-Pacific paper company, so being outside the official city limits is not a guarantee of avoiding the school property taxes.

I went there a few years ago and can't agree more.
Plus the course managers are passive. A foursome took my tee rine right in front of me. I complained, nothing happened.

You live in Louisiana. You aren’t getting away from non whites. For what it is, Zachary is fine. Certainly better than some areas of this state we call home
Well said. People have unrealistic expectations. Zachary is definitely in the top tier of Louisiana towns. There’s much worse spots to be.
It’s also not exclusively a black problem. Try living in an all white area where there’s meth head rednecks. That’s equally as bad. It’s about median income. That’s what brings in decent folk.

If this is true, then the taxes and road costs will keep the riff raff out of affording to live in Zachary.
The duplexes near the Walmart are an eyesore. If those went away, that'd be nice.
