These people would be upper echelon at blackwater. I could be wrong, but I don’t the average blackwater operator is former CIA or SEAL

They keep calling Khashoggi a "journalist".

He was a close working associate of the Saudi head of intelligence (who was replaced a week or so before Khashoggi was 'disappeared'.)

Khashoggi's father (Adnan) was the world's biggest arms dealer for decades. Had a net worth in the 1980's exceeding 4 Billion dollars.

Not ideal. World is a messy place. Better they hire Americans than Russians, right?

I think we'd be surprised to learn how much stuff like this happens that we have no clue about.

Right. This is just the stuff sanctioned by the UAE (supposedly).

If it’s one thing I’ve learned about the Middle East, it’s that the line between government, military, private contractors, and police is VERY blurred. No telling who their actual contact was.

Adnan was Jamal's uncle, not father.

And Jamal K. was always a journalist, going all the way back to the 80s. So I'm not sure where you got your info. He did work in some major hot spots around the world, so it may make sense if he had some sort of relationship with intel, but he was a legit journalist.

Yes they would have been, but blackwater employed tons of people like this, they also employed cops and regular soldiers too.

In a war, when does a "killing" become an assassination? Not trying to be sarcastic or anything, I'd just like to understand the difference.

you don't see being bigass hypocrites is a problem?

the reasons why terrorists target us is because they say we meddle in others' affairs. shite like this gives them a legit argument.

I stand corrected. It was reported (in error) on local TV that he was Adnan's son. As to Jamal being a mere working reporter:

Khashoggi wasn’t just a troublesome journalist; he was, as the New York Times puts it, a man who had had “a successful career as an adviser to and unofficial spokesman for the royal family of Saudi Arabia.”

You've been living a sheltered life. This sort of thing has been going on since nations got started, including here in the US.

It's far better than war. Innocent people and their kids are much less likely to be impacted, plus there's much less physical destruction.

I agree that's used as an argument, but it is not legit. The whole point of assassination is to target specific individuals. Terrorists target innocent civilians, and that's completely the opposite.

Why should I care if a foreign government hires hit men to take out some of their problem citizens? Their country, their rules.

Yeah that makes sense. But that wouldn't 100% explain why they murdered him.

The years and years and years of dissident opinions that he expressed through the media combined with his (through his journalism work and as an adviser) and his family's close relationships with higher ups in the kingdom probably had more to do with it.

Mohammad Bin Salman is turning out to be a pretty ruthless leader.
