Amazon package lost, am I screwed?

So a fairly expensive package was supposedly delivered Monday by UPS however I returned to the house 30 or so minutes after it was dropped off and nothing was there.
I contacted Amazon today and they are doing an investigation. Has anyone dealt with this before?

Only time it happened to be, they just resent whatever I ordered. Spent about an hour on a three way call with amazon customer service and local usps reps

Was it some unusually heavy storage containers? If so and you live in Florida, check the police station.

Happened to me... 'cept it was USPS. Amazon refunded my money.

Happened to me twice , I just contacted Amazon through the web site, they resent the items no questions asked. We had/have a problem with the mailman stealing our stuff, have also received many packages that were opened and examined, but nothing removed, the post office handling or mail could not be less interested.

Amazon is usually very good about this sort of thing, in my limited experience. I guess it depends on the curcumstances, but I would expect them to be fair and try to take care of you.
The only time that I had an issue though was a cd that got lost in the mail that amazon immediately sent a replacement. It's kind of a small ticket item. Don't think it would be different with something more expensive, but I don't know.

Well hopefully that's how this turns out, I have heard they can be difficult to deal with.

The only time that I have ever heard of someone having any trouble with amazon was with one of their 3rd party retailers. That and CAD's inability to interpret reviews.

I’ve had this happen numerous times with amazon. Every single time they have next day shipped me whatever it was I was missing. Twice the original item ended up also arriving later. Both times amazon told me to just keep both of them. One of them was a $700 item.

It says it was left by the front door/porch and the time.
When I spoke with Amazon they contacted UPS who stood by the claim that it was delivered.
