AUSTIN – Governor Greg Abbott today attended the grand opening of Amazon’s new Fulfillment Center in Houston, Texas. This new 855,000-square-foot facility currently employs more than 2,000 workers and is expected to hire up to 2,500. This is the second Amazon facility located in the Houston area.

In addition to the grand opening, Governor Abbott also toured the center, which is designed to pack and ship items to customers as quickly as possible. Amazon currently operates more than 20 facilities in the state and employs more than 20,000 Texans.

No HQ2, no care.

Haven't heard any news on that in a while - when are they finally going to announce?

Sure is nice getting same day Amazon delivery here in Texas before heading out to hit a few balls at Top Golf and gas up the car at Buccee's.

How fun and expensive is this to do? It looks awesome but I haven't had time to check it out in Houston yet.

Be sure to take one of the loops to avoid traffic.

Swap Mapco for Bucees, add 4 seasons, topography, 1/2 the property taxes and 1/2 the illegals, and call it Nashville

It can be about $25 to $35 per hour. 90 min to 2 hours is a good amount of time. They've also got a bar and a restaurant area. Typical bar/restaurant prices on food and drink so it could get pricey if you pound a few beers and get a couple of hours into some games.

Which is funny is that I had to just that to get to Top Golf down in Webster a couple of weeks ago. Bad wreck on 45S. Didn't get any Buccee's though. Had to settle for Rudy's

I would suspect that BR is getting a delivery station (100-200,000 SF). They've been hunting around BR for a couple of years now.

This is the smallest of the 3 warehouses that Amazon builds.

The largest is a fulfillment center (approx. 1 million SF) while the middle-sized sort stations are about 300-500,000 SF.
