We aren't in this dystopian socialist future. They can find a new job.

It's not strict, at all. No one feels pressured by ToT. Its just a metric used to ensure associates dont game the system and for managers to understand when theres a disruption in workflow.

Pretty sure those workers are free to go find another job if they don't feel it's a "fair" system.

Freedom is the damnedest thing.

I know Amazon HQ2 was highly sought after by a lot of cities, but that company is developing a very bad reputation for being a high stress, high pressure work environment.

Is this the beginning of the end for TD?

Let me check my HR file to see how short a leash I’m on.

*immediately afterwards*

Nope, I’ve never disciplined myself so I’m good. Although the week of the unicorn tournament saw almost zero production from me .

A bad reputation coming from disgruntled people who dont want to work in general. If they'd find a new job instead of bitch, they'd find that comparable jobs at Michael's, Chewy's, Target warehouse, etc are the exact same. Repetitive tasks with a manager that keeps telling you to hit rate. That's what low-skilled labor generally is.

It's a shitty job but it's the same shite job everywhere in any warehouse, Amazon is just an easy boogeyman.

Amazon has fired more than 300 workers, citing productivity, at a single facility in Baltimore in a single year (August 2017 through September 2018)

Baltimore. There is the problem. Those 300 were probably shocked that real work was required.

I just see it as a symptom to a growing problem. Mainly, our consumerism is out of control and the behind the scenes logistics is becoming tougher and tougher on people. We're already reading posts about deliveries not only late at night but after midnight. Not just that, but we're starting to become familiar with and even lazy enough to use curbside pickup and delivery of toilet paper and sugar for Heaven sakes. We're becoming a slothful society. Lazy as shite, fat and never satisfied.

In 50 years most people will barely leave their homes, spending all day watching tv shows and playing games in VR. Social interaction will be all but dead.

It's weird that progressives love truly evil employers like this but hate small businesses that look out for their employers, bc evil old white men.

I don’t know about their warehouses. The people I know at Amazon are younger, educated, and work in tech.

Compensation and benefits are high, but they also have a poor work/life balance and high stress. - much like Big 4 consulting and some legal and medical specialties.

I can guarantee you that a job in an Amazon warehouse is easier than most jobs were 40 years ago.

Now, on the professional side it's a grind. The warehouse jobs are dramatized.

We won't have jobs then so won't be able to afford our own homes. Our robot overlords will have directives not to harm us in any way, so they will care for us in the most comfortable and efficient way possible...by being warehoused. There will be plenty of people near us to interact with.

Meh. I have a close relative who has been working the HQ in Seattle for 10 years. He does work a lot of hours and says it's stressful, but he was a millionaire by age 40.

Apparently trying to build a supply chain that rivals the FedEx network in less than 5 years is hard to do.

ground floor folks at startups generally take stock in lieu of higher salaries early on, sometimes deferred gratification can payoff big time
