What if Amazon just decided retroactively who can be on its cloud based platform based on how that company’s politics lined up with theirs?
That’s my concern with Amazon. Their AWS service and Microsoft Azure now control on obscene amount of data, hence the blood of most mid sized and large companies out there. The concern that they COULD realistically do what they wanted with that control is scary amd increasing more every day.
I don’t like that Amazon is putting small retail places out of business but that is capitalism, unfortunately. I don’t like Wal Mart for the same reason, but it is a simple fact of our economy.
The cloud hosting control is where they could realize decide who is allowed to do what. Then, the entire Twitter/Facebook/Google propaganda thing is scary as hell too.

Bezos owns the Washington Post which has gone pretty far left.
I don't know Bezos' personal politics, neither does anyone here, but this means absolutely nothing.
Dude just buys things that he think will make him money. It isn't a reflection of personal politics. WaPo was had for dirt cheap and he wants to get Amazon into media. He's going to slowly dismember it and rebuild it if I had to guess.

Baffled as to why you seem surprised people sell out things for money.

As this Financial Post article states, Bezos “made contributions to Washington Democratic Sens. Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell, and to Utah Republican Sen. Orrin Hatch and former Rep. Jason Chaffetz.”
quote:
However, in 2010 Bezos donated to help bar the addition of an income tax on the super-wealthy in Washington State, an action that would make others assume he is Republican.
quote:
The largest donation that Bezos has made to date was the $10 million donated to the With Honor Action. With Honor is a nonpartisan initiative that is working to have veteran’s elected into office.
quote:
He has thrown his weight behind the United States Department of Defense a few times now. Bezos has also shown his support for military veterans through large donations to charities, as well as committing to creating jobs for veterans.
Yep, sounds like a liberal to me.

get back to me when some islanders break a trade agreement and in response Bezos sends over soldiers to rape and pillage them.
Or when a Chinese factory doesn’t produce fast enough so the Chinese government just kills the workers and replaces them with children who make Bezos’s shite cheaper and faster.
You don’t need an army when you own the island and the government.

I can’t believe MGM was that cheap.
Yeah that's an absolute steal. Amazon would have been crazy not to do that deal.

What about the part where he donated $10 billion to fight climate change?

Sounds like an investment moreso over a political stance.
Again, way to gloss over not only an article I linked but literal quotes of him donating to republican pacs, politicians, and organizations.
Dude just likes making money. Media, energy and alternative energy, defense contracts, tech, retail, etc.

Funny that you leave out his donations to left leaning politicians and organizations and provide no link to where you obtained the quotes so people can't see the other donations...
quote:
In 2012, Bezos made a $2.5 million donation to Washington United for Marriage who was running a campaign to have same-sex marriage legalized in the state.
See, I can do it too...

Yeah man! frick the Earth!
His biggest gifts so far in this area are realllly political. Might as well be Soros:
quote:
The biggest gifts include $100 million to the World Wildlife Fund, which stated that it will deploy the gift to focus on three nature-based solutions to climate change: protecting and restoring mangroves in Colombia, Fiji, Madagascar and Mexico; scaling sustainable seaweed farming in the North Atlantic; and restoring and protecting forests and other ecosystems in the Amazon, Africa and Central America.

Government overreach into defining marriage was stupid.
