Dating apps are geared for women, not men. I wouldn't judge the dating landscape based on online interactions through these apps. Women often misrepresent themselves and it's likely men do as well.

I would recommend quoting Sun Tzu and then saying "love is war but I've perfected the art" and then always be the first one to say "I love you." The first time she messages you first, just respond "i love you" and if she doesn't say anything back just say "lol my friend took my phone."

The few engineers I knew at LSU had what we called, engineering syndrome, they tend to bring up extremely niche hobbies, when talking to girls, one I knew would always bring up breeding possums.
