We have unlimited PTO, just do not abuse it.
Same, but questions would definitely be asked after 28 days off

Also don't get paid for it if you leave the company.
Exactly, trust me it wasn't a subtle brag.
It's BS. I take the same amount of time off since i first started working and we can't sell our unused time back anymore. Also, it was a perk as a senior to earn more hours than new employees, but now it's equity and shite

Butt still hurting from the Red Eye experience this weekend?

My GF's dad drove to the game Sunday. We piled in his truck with 3 of my kids and went to the tailgate about 12:30pm.
My girlfriend and my 13 yr old daughter intentionally waited til we're already sitting at the tailgate and enjoying food and beverages to tell her openly homophobic dad that it's Southern Decadence weekend and that 200k gays have descended upon New Orleans to party.
He nearbout lost his frickin shite."Them frickin F*ags are down here today? What the hell?" and looking over his shoulder and so on.
It was comical but also kinda sad to see such blatant homophobia still exists out there.

If it's unlimited schedule 80 days off next year

That's fine. Everyone I know enjoys it.
Get your shite done and take time off.
My highest performing engineer has taken over 30 days off this year and has a good bit more scheduled. Don't even care. He's great.

8 hours every 2 weeks
(Plus most holidays are off, so, works out to about 12 and change per pay period.)

I struggle to take my days most years. I'd probably take less if it was open ended for sure.
Why though? Is it the work? Or is it you?
In my own department a guy told me he doesn't have time to go to the gym.
I asked him with hostility in my voice, "Why the frick would you work for a company where you can't take 45 minutes a day to workout/eat/run errands?"
He gave me the uh uh uhs.
He was full of frickin shite.
Same goes for you. Why can't you take all your days?

Small team. Generally sort of difficult to have 2 people out at once and I'm on call 1/3 of my life.

Unlimited PTO and 80 hrs of sick leave. Only reason I’m sticking around

Do you mean on the clock or the guy was working all day for no reason?

On a somewhat related topic, how many of you take more than one week off at a time? I just feel overwhelmed with catch up work when I get back or don’t feel like asking co-workers to cover for too long.
Just had a co-worker go to Europe for three weeks to visit family.
Another sr manager I know took off five weeks earlier this year.

Sadly never. I don't think I've ever taken more than a week in my career.

Bingo. Your budget sucks and management sucks if they don't get you two more people.

I have been on call for 21 years. But one nice perk of dragging us back to the office in April for 3 days a week was removing us from on-call. That is nice.
Then I got called on the way to the LSU Game Sunday.

I work for the Federal government. 15 years plus of service gets 8 hours annual leave and 4 hours sick leave per pay period. You can carry over 240 hours of annual leave and there is no sick leave carry over.
I have 21 years of service with over 1,000 hours sick leave. I usually carry over around the 240 hours of annual leave.

Get a lot of leave due to seniority but there is a lot of pressure not to take what you earn.

Been at my company for 4 years. Get 2 weeks PTO and 7 “sick” days. Next year i will tack on an additional week of PTO and at 10 years i’ll get a 4th week.

Yeah, I just stare at my desk; but it looks like I'm working. I do that for probably another hour after lunch, too. I'd say in a given week I probably only do about fifteen minutes of real, actual, work

I get 4 weeks of PTO and able to block my calendar as I see fit outside of PTO

quote:hubs has the same issue. He takes the day before and the day after our vacations off just because he can. Everyone at his company fills the calendar with random Fridays and Mondays until people who are too slow have to take random mid week days since departments only allow so many people off per day.
