As a kid I remember seeing black bears driving from BR to N.LA. to our hunting camp. Haven't seen one randomly when driving through LA. in over two decades.

I hunt in Batchelor, they are everywhere

this. Take I49 south through Houma from Laffy and you'll see a bunch on the side of the road as well.

Time to thin the herd.

If there are no buzzards on a dead gator it's probably not a dead gator. A dead gator in July on asphalt will be bloated up like a hot air balloon and generally smell worse than anything you can imagine. There should be no less than 20 buzzards feeding on the carcass with about 20 more in the air.

I have been zig zag in Louisiana for the last 10 years in my delivery truck and I see dead Gators all the time.

You know why you never see a big dead gator?
Because they didn't get to be big by trying to cross the interstate.

Seen a big one dead on the road between waterproof and st. joe years back.

agree they're over populated yet the LDWF protects them as if they're on the brink of extinction.

A couple of years ago when I made the Metairie- Thibodoux commute for work I saw a 8-10 footer on Hwy 90 by that bayou with the houseboats just west of the Hwy 1 exit. I thought that whoever hit that tree shaker had to have damaged their vehicle.

Dayum....

99% of the time they're smaller than 4ft, and usually after a lot of rain.
