You always see them between Paris Rd and Irish Bayou on I-10 in NOE.. There were a shite ton of them after Katrina..

As a kid I remember seeing black bears driving from BR to N.LA. to our hunting camp. Haven't seen one randomly when driving through LA. in over two decades.

About 20 years ago, my cousin ran over one while exiting off the interstate at Robert. Her friend's dad went back and got it and grilled it.

I think they're seeing retread tires that have blown and come off these trailers on the 18 wheelers. They come off in long strips and could be mistaken for a run-over alligator.
