Has the alligator that was removed from a drainage pipe in Livingston been discussed yet? I searched and couldn't find anything.

I find it ridiculous that people are acting like alligators are a new issue in the state. I realize that the incident in Orlando is likely feeding it, but haven't Louisianians been living alongside alligators in the past? Or is ignorance still bliss when it comes to the giant predators?

quote:

As you all know the Town of Livingston has several large drainage canals throughout our small town. We would like to remind everyone that these ditches are sometimes refuge for all types of animals such as turtles and poisonous snakes.... And now including Alligators. Please keep an eye on all children and small animals around these ditches this summer. Have fun and be safe!! This "little"guy (8.5 foot) was located in the canal on Ohio street.

It's Livingston. Half of the residents would probably waddle over to pet it while yelling "Pretty lizard!"

Based on what you posted I'm not seeing any sort of over reacting. It looks more like a friendly heads up that there might by alligators in unexpected areas.

Yeah, keep your kids out of the drainage canals. We would be fine with it, but...gators.

The local news agencies are running with it. Gator was also killed rather than relocated, but I think that's a law after they reach a certain size.

This guy was in a backyard in Algiers this morning by Lakewood Country Club. Took a few hours to get someone out there to remove it.

From a friend who heard from a news personality, the kids out there play in those drainage canals

Well, then they deserve what they get. All it takes it one kid being eaten by a gator in a canal for multiple generations to stay out of there.

"Y'all heard what happened to that Bobby kid back in 2016? You betta stay out that canal."

Haha guess you can't read it. Says alligators in the area and notify the city if you are one.

Hopefully they catch it and release it somewhere instead of killing it.

I saw a sign on the Mandeville lakefront this morning warning people that an alligator was recently spotted nearby....no shite!
