you do realize you can leave the resort and that the some resorts offer awesome dining? Let me guess, you believe the only way to vacation is to live like the locals?
Yea i wanna pay to go on a vacation and live like I am third world.

Vacationing. You're doing it wrong.
Apparently
Apparently. Because if a Dominican Rebublic all inclusive was my definition of "trip of a lifetime" I'd be severely disappointed with my life.
ETA:
And I'm not an all inclusive hater. I think they serve their purpose for people just wanting to completely let go, but "trip of a lifetime", oh no.

BTW OP we drove all over Jamaica and the two best resorts we saw were the Whitehouse and Iberostar Grand rose hall but they are two of the most expensive ones.
Also realize that if you are young and want a night life and partying is most important to yall as a couple it will be hard to beat sandles resorts. But you will sacrifice in other areas like dining adn top shelf liquor.

Im getting married next year and just booked this place for our honeymoon. It's been ranked in the top 10 globally for all inclusives for several years in a row now. Cant wait to check it out

Palace resorts. All rooms have a hot tub in the room.

Sandals Antigua, spring for a butler...it is awesome...food was great
Your idea of awesome and mine are different for the amount of money that place cost. Food was ok but far from great.

couples swept away in negril, jamaica
Was there last month.
Nice place. Beach was great.
Two negatives were the getting there and the food.
Found the food to be OK not great with limited choices.
Getting there sucked. Just recently Southwest started a direct to Montego Bay from Houston which happened after we booked our trip. We had to go through Miami
If I had to choose for a honeymoon, I would highly recommend El Dorado Casitas Royale in Riviera Maya. Absolutely get a casita.
It was the most "private" of the all inclusive that we have done. The food was excellent with many options to choose from daily. Less than 30 minute trip from the airport in Cancun.
Personally I don't like spending an entire day traveling each way when going on vacation. LINK to El Dorado

Anywhere is Mexico is going to be your best bet. I've been to DR and it wasn't any nicer and it took a lot longer to get to and was about double the price. I have heard other parts of the Caribbean are very similar. There are tons of nice places on the Caribbean side of Mexico just pick one with good reviews and make it happen.

Agree. Beautiful property, probably the nicest of all Sandals, but it's still the same shitty food.

Let me give you some general info. Don't leave for the honeymoon the day after the wedding. Just get a hotel room and crash for a day. Many of the smaller islands have flights coming in and out once a day, if you miss that your are out of luck till the next day. If you insist on AI, Trip Advisor's Top All Inclusives you can get much more bang for your buck through AirB&B or VRBO

I can tell you that Punta Cana sucks compared to Dominucus/La Romana area of D.R. PC has crappy sand and the water is no where near as clear. That said I would avoid the Dominican Republic all together. They have very bad issues at the resorts with food preparation and hygiene. I saw countless reports of it but wrote it off as a rarity until my wife got violently sick with food poisoning. Have never had any issues with any other Caribbean island.

Not exactly all inclusive but arenal nayara in costa rica was amazing. Only thing not included was lunch and drink IIRC. Southwest flies there pretty cheap now too.
The pictures don't even do the place justice. Activities we did: White water rafting, ziplining, hot springs etc.

I went there for mine and have known 3 other couples that have. It's a great resort.
The Dominician sucks, they don't do hospitality well down there.

quote:miami airport sucks,i'll agree with that...but the hour and a half bus ride from montego to the resort had beautiful views and didn't seem that long...plus our bus driver was real cool
We had to go through Miami . Then there is an hour and a half bus ride to the resort.

Went to Coco Plum Island Resort. All inclusive and they take care of everything once you give them an international itinerary. Have to take a "puddle jumper" from big airport and a boat to get to it but it's not bad. Small, only 14 private cabanas and food was pretty good as well. It is the sister resort to the Belizian Dream in Hopkins that is mentions in the thread. Hope this helps
