MCM was the construction company.

FIGG Bridge Engineers designed the bridge.

Not sure how this shite gets viral.

UPDATE, March 16, 2018, 11 a.m.: To clarify, Leonor Flores did not work on the FIU-Sweetwater UniversityCity Bridge project in any capacity.

So was she the lead engineer or not?

If the Poliboard has a thread devoted to this, you know it came from some bullshite source.

I am tired of hearing that women are being made there right to have a career in math engineering or science. It’s just such bullshite and women of all ages have bought into it. This would deflate that misplaced axe to grind a tad.

It's not an indictment of women, it's an indictment on the idea that diversity automatically means better results. It doesn't mean shite and it's backwards thinking.

Forced diversity isn’t a good thing, I agree.

Anyone know why women make bad engineers? It’s because they’ve been told that 3 actual inches is 7 inches all their lives.

The FIU foot bridge was designed to be supported from above by a system of thick steel cables (see illustration) and a reinforced concrete center support column. But the cables and the center column had not been installed before the 950 ton, 174-foot bridge was moved into place over 8th street on Saturday.

Wow. Those women all deserve to go to jail for homicide

If true, I'm failing to see how this isn't negligent homicide as well. There's a design failure where a series of small factors accumulate to kill.

Then there's erecting a structure out of order with obvious structural deficiencies over a well-traveled public roadway.

Of course they’re going to go with the all woman construction/engineering crew. They’ll work for 70 cents on the dollar.
