Jackson doesn't even have 150,000 residents.

you don’t see me questioning the Gulfport/Biloxi number do you? Because they sure as hell don’t have 400k people.

No shite, there’s barely a half million people on the entire gulf coast of Mississippi

That’s the whole point of the word “generous”

So do you not understand what a MSA is?

Maybe in every county surrounding the Burg combined, which is not what I would consider a “metro”

But I digress.

MSA is a way better metric than city limit, but it's still weird. The first issue is county size: Phoenix has a larger "metro area" than Connecticut and Massachusetts combined, and there's no way there's that many commuting for work that far away. Economic geography is weird and ultimately always subjective

Normally Spartanburg is thrown into Greenville and Anderson in these numbers and it is counted as one metro, which would bump it to #2 in the south

Uh, they are their own cities, but they are closer and more integrated with Bham than the Northshore cities are with New Orleans.

Is that true? Granted I haven’t lived there in 30 years, but I always thought Mandeville, Covington, and Slidell considered themselves part of New Orleans?

I know my cousins from Slidell still say they’re from New Orleans.

I really don't know what you're getting at. MSA is City + Suburb, even if the suburb part drastically outpopulates the city part. No one is mistaking Trussville, Hoover, or Gardendale for a "city" by any mean

People from the north shore and Slidell say they’re from New Orleans

People from New Orleans know better

Why the hell are people moving to a shite hole like Atlanta?? That place should be losing population rapidly, not gaining it.

I was up in Forsyth County today. I have told my wife that I wanna retire somewhere along the 515 or upper 400 corridor(Northern Forsyth/Lumpkin/Dawson). Just coming in on Hwy.20 this morning off of 575 and looking out seeing the Smokies in the near distance just makes me smile. It is pretty up there.

Melt.

The northern suburbs(especially northern Cherokee and Northern Forsyth Counties) and far western burbs(Carrollton) are absolutely beautiful.

Of course I do.

The number for Jackson is way, way off.
