A couple of my dad's distant-ish relatives were beer-a-holics who died of kidney disease.

Brewing beer is fun.

The cleaning DOES suck.

We have gotten to where we can brew 35 gallons in a day and can ferment 42 gallons at a time. I enjoy the process and give most of it away but I drink my fair share and have never died from it.

alcohol is alcohol, had a friend die from cirrhosis a couple of years ago, would never drink anything but Miller Lite

A guy I knew back in the day when I was a young man died one night after drinking. He drank beer, lots and lots of beer and was a small guy no more than 130 lbs.

He got drunk one night and went to a friends car to sleep it off a bit and they found him dead, not from alcohol poisoning, but from choking to death on his own vomit in the back seat of the car. He was in his mid 20's when that happened.
