Why didn't the 9/11 victims sue Jones for his 9/11 truth and the resulting harassment they received? I'll tell you why: at the time, Jones's website Prison Planet was frequently trafficked by those on the political left, who loved Jones because of his anti-Iraq War stance and his hatred of Bush and Cheney. Now that the left in this country sound exactly like the Bush neocons they once despised when it comes to foreign policy and spying, Jones must be destroyed.

I haven't followed this story at all. What did Jones do to merit such a penalty?

Shared his opinion that Sandy Hook was a hoax

IIRC he took a default judgment on this because he knew there was no way he would win in CT so he knew this was coming and probably has his bankruptcy draft already ready to go.

No one said he should be insulated. Straw man. We don't think these parents deserve all this money for his comments.

And the jury of his peers concluded differently. He can make an appeal to a higher court, that is how this process works

$1 billion dollars

So pharmaceutical companies can cause actual harm and death by misleading and pay 2.3 billion. Alex Jones can just lie and hurt feelings and pays $1 billion?

Seems balanced, checks out.

they prob don't, but it did go through the justice system and came back with this result

Which is what we want though right? Let it go through the courts and what happens will happen.

At least that's what I've read on here in the past

he didn’t do himself a lot of favors procedurally in the courts.

He knew he was not going to win no matter what so he treated it with the respect he felt justified.

Oh come the frick on, a billion? What Alex did was fricked up as all hell, but a billion? For record, OJ only had to pay $33.3 million for murdering Ron and Nicole to the Goldmans and Browns. That's a hundred times worse than what Alex did. Alex didn't murder the kids. A few million, sure, but a billion is out of line.

Well then that was pretty stupid and no one should pity him or cry about this result.

You can tell, because a lot of the leftist O-T lawyers that are saying "that's what he gets" are not saying the same when other slanderous lawsuits are talked about. I don't see C on Z saying "you go girl" for Nick Sandman.

Is Jones a piece of shite for saying what he said about Sandy Hook? Absolutely. Is there some sort of monetary punishment he should pay for saying those things, probably. Is it "billions"? No.

Agree with both these points, especially the part in bold. The hypocrisy is off the charts.

As far as Jones, he bought the ticket, he's going to have to take the ride though the amount seems excessive

This size of the award is in his favor. It will make his declaring bankruptcy that much more justified. The jury was stupid for awarding such a large sum. If they truly wanted him to pay and wanted to punish him they would have kept it in line with something more realistic. This was obviously purely emotionally driven.

Heslin and Lewis both said they fear for their lives and have been confronted by strangers at home and on the street. Heslin said his home and car have been shot at. The jury heard a death threat sent via telephone message to another Sandy Hook family.

“I can’t even describe the last nine and a half years, the living hell that I and others have had to endure because of the recklessness and negligence of Alex Jones,” Heslin said.

Article outlining why Alex Jones is a turd

Give me a fricking break! They sued him because he has cringe opinion and his take of what really went down with the school shooting is considered to be insensitive and in poor taste??

They blame him because crazy people are mean to them?? Are courts really finding people GUILTY of these charges? They attribute the actions of others to a person that did not directly have any hand in deaths of their children or the unproven cruel treatment that they say they receive. Fkn BS!!

I haven't read the article but I will.

I bet he is happy it was a billion. Makes his bankruptcy proceedings less questionable.

Why is this shocking? The people defending this judgment are the same crowd who believe words are violence and actual violence is justified, provided you belong to a specific class of victims.

This paragraph is rich after Covid when we were all told we had to get an experimental vaccination to reduce the spread and then a Pfizer executive yesterday admitted that they never once tested if it prevented transmission.
