The US refugee program is the most restrictive way to legally enter the country. Successful applicants have passed a criminal background check and an investigation into any possible terrorist links.
Out of 750,000 people who have arrived here via this program since 9/11, exactly zero have even been charged let alone found guilty of any violent terrorist activity.
Worry about people arriving on work/student visas, they don't get checked nearly so much. People who are officially designated as refugees are probably safer than most of your natural-born citizen neighbors.
