We need to cut education funds. This will make them work harder and therefore become smarter

Our spending per pupil is like 24th and our schools are ranked 48th. If we only had more funding

Saban and Sark skewed the results.

quote:New Jersey adds up. Outside of a few ghettos, it has very favorable demographics and good schools.
Why? What do you know about New Jersey?
I would have guessed Massachusetts or Vermont.

Since holding a degree determines the intelligence of an individual.
Take 100 random non-college grads from the state population and 100 random college grads and see who is more intelligent. Granted the smartest of the entire 200 random people might not be college educated but as a whole the higher measure of intelligence goes to the graduate and it isn't close.

Reminds me of that list I think Newsweek put out a few years back calling Alexandria one of the top cities in the South.

Polling one guy with a “toothbrush “ doesn’t count.

And yet the people of Alabama aren't smart enough to not procreate with their relatives.

Would be the smartest state if they allowed incestuous abortions.

I know some baws down in the wiregrass and butler/lowndes counties that probably keep Alabama out of the top 10.

Posts link with Alabama 16th and North Carolina 4th. Seems to me if Perfect Circle moves out of Alabama they would probably jump 3 or 4 places up.

A high percentage and that's good. But it's also for Alabama high schools, so not really all that difficult. The same applies to Louisiana, Mississippi, etc.

Median SAT score is a crap statistic. Many states require all students to take the SAT. These states all do relatively poorly compared to Alabama since in Alabama it's only those headed to college that take the SAT.

16% with a bachelor degree is pretty low. Most states have a higher number.
You left off "Average percentage of ACT takers meeting subject benchmarks." Alabama scores 31% here which is pretty abysmal.
Like most internet rating lists this one is awful.
well, shite
