Doubt it gets ugly, but al.com is having an absolute freak out over it. No one seems to realize that nitrogen makes up about 79% of the air we breathe.
al.com is trash.

Does Ocean-gate have any more submersibles? We could put him in one and send him down to the Titanic.
I just request that Under Pressure be played on a loop until implosion.

Soft-point .308 is so much cheaper and very little chance of needing a second attempt.
A 12 gauge slug to the center of the head mass is 100% certain to be totally humane. Messy? Sure.

is scheduled to inhale the lethal gas
Actually…..
Nitrogen is not a lethal gas, it’s part of air. They’re basically just starving him of O2… He will eventually become hypoxic, which will make him fall asleep, like in carbon monoxide poisoning, then it will affect his brain and heart’s need for o2. It’s actually a painless death. You fall asleep and don’t wake up…
It’s not like chlorine gas…

They should have used liquid nitrogen instead. Just bind his hands and legs, and drop him into a big vat full. Instant popsicle.
Then tap him with a hammer.

I wonder what type of mask they will use in this process

they couldn’t get a vein
They must have some shitty medical people working for them….
There’s so many techniques for putting in IVs including ultrasounds.

Years ago I stuck my head inside a heat exchanger that was under nitrogen blanketing so that I could look for a leak. After two breaths I dropped to the ground while the maintenance guy and operator laughed their asses off at the stupid young engineer.

And you still have a job at this place?

They really couldn't find someone to be able to establish an IV for the injection. That almost seems unbelievable.
Liquid fentanyl dripped into the eye.

He didn't say that it would be completely painless, but a .308 to the sternum is not survivable.

They tried for 4 hours including attempting a central line. I'm assuming the medical staff they get to work in the execution chamber isn't top of the line.

Apparently he wouldn't drink anything for several days so that he would be so dehydrated, the vein would always collapse and roll and they couldn't stick him.
Or so the story goes.

So initially the concerns were that should there be a leak bystanders, including a preacher who he has asked to be by his side, could be killed in the process. Now they are saying there is no guarantee that the mask will stay in place when he starts praying...which he did during the first attempt, or coughing or otherwise moving while dying. There is also some pretty strong evidence that vomiting will be a very real possibility which would necessitate someone repositioning the mask. It seems that the issue is the mask and of course there is no stomach for addressing those concerns because killing this person is ALL that matters. Never mind that a second botched attempt will increase opposition to the death penalty, never mind that spending the rest of his life in prison is far more economically feasible to what has transpired thus far, not considering what will no doubt transpire should he pray and vomit enough that it takes 7-8 hours of trying to gas him until everyone involved has had a belly full and calls it off again. The main thing is to kill him and damn the consequences.
