This guy had two hands on his wallet with his arms extended in the direction of the officer? I think the cop was overzealous but cmon man, it reasonably looked as though he had a weapon, especially at night. Then to put two hands hands back on the wallet after he was shot just doesn't compute for me. If he were on an incline, then reasonably, he would have used one hand to assist himself and the other hand to hold the wallet. This driver was eaten up with dumbass at the wrong time (meaning with a trigger happy popo on the scene).

I agree here, I have never seen a person exit a vehicle like that, but police must be slower to shoot, especially when they still have every tactical advantage (lights, sirens, cover) there really isn't a huge debate over it being a bad shoot IMO.

I am not certain of the penalties the cop should pay as I don't think he is a menace to society as long as he is no longer a police officer.

Court justified the shoot. He's probably on the street as he did "nothing" wrong.

In fact the driver had to pay the costs of the lawsuit.

So make a reasonable assumption.

I don't think mistakenly identifying a wallet for a gun is reasonable.

they were not extended in the direction of the officer, and it takes 2 hands to pull your drivers license out of your wallet. Try it with one hand and come back.

If you haven't been shot before, I wouldn't expect you to understand one's reaction to being shot.

exiting a vehicle with his wallet to give the officer his ID after a minor car accident is "eaten up with dumbass". The people on this board really never case to amaze me.

honestly, i don't know what to think. it was a bit hasty and shifty the way he got out, you can tell he was reaching for something, came out with a black object in hands coming upward... wallet and gun are all too indifferent when it comes to distant appearances. cops are in bad positions sometimes with stupid people.

I'd understand this angle if it were a traffic stop. You obviously stay in the vehicle when being pulled over-that's Common Sense 101.

But plenty of people leave their vehicle when the cops show up to report a car accident. I've done it, with a wallet in my hand because my auto ID card and my license are in my wallet. There's no reason for a cop to even approach this situation like a crime has been committed.

If you're that hasty and worried about being shot, you probably shouldn't be a cop.

The police officer also has a light blazing right into the the victim's eyes, which rendered the cop virtually invisible to the citizen.

All I see is a guy getting shot simply because he awkwardly exited his vehicle because of the way it was parked. It took less than 10 seconds before the officer started blazing away; the cop fired as soon as he, the motorist, raised his hands.

Every time I see something like this I shake my head and just tell myself not every cop is a piece of shite. The guy did survive, right? Well I'm glad to hear that, and I'm also glad that it was a white guy as fricked up as that is to say.

THis 10000000 fricking times.. but police must be slower to shoot, especially when they still have every tactical advantage (lights, sirens, cover) there really isn't a huge debate over it being a bad shoot IMO.

This happens 10 times a day now. Way way too many cops shot first and ask questions latter. They they they are in Iraq.

Ask yourself this, before criticizing the victim, why did the idiot cop have his gun drawn to begin with? This was not a traffic stop but an auto accident where parties had already called police do do a report for their insurance company, and had been waiting in their cars for police to arrive.

What screams that the cops life is in danger in this situation?

Its like when u call the cops to do report on bicycle theft and they jump out of the car guns a blazing....give me a fricking break.

Obviously the reason the video was keep under wraps was to keep it quiet until the lawsuit could be dismissed.

This cop will kill an innocent person, just give him time. Hopefully, it will be one of you guys that is on here blaming the victims all the time. At least that will be some justice and we can all point out how it is all your dumbass fault.
