An A-10 shot down an Iraqi helo with it's main gun.

BRRRT. It's not just for ground targets.

You'd probably have a million surrender in a couple hours.

the frequent complaint from both Raptor along with F-15 and F-16 pilots is that they run out of missiles very, very quickly.

Well shite Darth, what the hell do they want? The Raptor can do things the F-15 can't. If you put external stores on the Raptor, you lose the primary advantage it has over 4th gen fighters. It's physics.

Unless they start putting laser cannons or cloaking devices on them, you will always sacrifice ordinance for stealth.

They've got a handful of MIG-29s which is their most modern fighter. But they also have a bunch of Chinese copies of the MIG-17s which have been around since the mid-1950s. Looks like the backbone of their Air Force is the Chinese copy of the MIG-21. They've also got a bunch of MIG-19s.

Of those types, only the MIG-29 could be considered a "modern" fighter. The rest of them are little better than target drones compared to our aircraft.

I bet they're out front on the maintenance of those planes.

Those were just for illumination, though, right?

I know that the general population doesn't have much access to what is going on in the rest of the world, I imagine the same holds true for most of the general inlisted members of the military. Once they see firepower like they can't even imagine I'm sure most would gladly drop their weapons.

Such speculation is dangerous. If the Geneva man asks - they were for illumination ONLY.

Here is a video of "dogfight" from the 1989 air battle between a pair of Libyan Migs vs a couple of F14's.

LINK

The F14's never saw the Migs until the very end. Not even close to Top Gun dogfights. Today they would never even see the enemy fighters.
