Wife just said (no pics) gas stations can put more air in lines so pumps register more fuel pumped than actual. People call her Dr. Know. I call bull shite. What you say.

Then it would appear that your gas tank is getting larger as measured by fuel added to fill up.

The tank is self-venting so it will separate any entrained air in the supply.

Air will run the meter when you purge the lines on a brand new station.

But once the lines are purged and bled of air the fuel in them is incompressible and the meter measures the fluid.

There is no mechanism to aerate the fuel at a commercial gas station.

all of that can be negated if you leave your car running as you fuel, with the gas pedal fully to the floor, that way you are burning out the older, expensive gas and saving more money by pumping in the cheaper gas, the full benefit cannot not be obtained however, unless you drive at a minimum of 100mph for hours at a time, it science

Gas does expand due to heat. Maybe this what she's talking about? They don't carbonate it though.

That's dumb. Think about what the mechanism would be to incorporate air into a stream of flammable liquid. Tell her to blame Biden, which is far more accurate.

Ask her how much more fuel do you save by going 50 mph vs 100mph and how long will it take you to get there

This is true. The TWR Jaguar team used to chill their fuel to get more into the tank. That practice was outlawed, however.
