Yes. My grand father was a green beret, would jump in right after they dropped AO.
He died of breast cancer in his late 50s and my mom and her siblings accepted a very small check from the USA and signed away any rights to further settlements.

I don’t know anyone impacted by Agent Orange in Vietnam, but I did personally know someone in the Army who got brain cancer (and eventually died from it) after being stationed at Karshi-Khanabad, known as K2, in Uzbekistan during the early days of the war in Afghanistan. K2 is an old Soviet based that was leased by the U.S. because of its proximity to Al Qaeda targets in northern Afghanistan. The thing is, the base was contaminated from chemical weapons remnants and processed uranium. There was a black goo that would actually ooze from the ground in and around parts of the base. A bunch of servicemen who were stationed there wound up with various forms of cancer. It took a long time for the government to provide benefits to cover their medical expenses related to their cancers. I don’t think the U.S. government has ever fully acknowledged that K2 was the cause of their cancers.

Didn't know him personally, but I knew of him.

Ah. You were still talking about the downvoters. I would've assumed you kept it to one post. It looked like you were trying to respond to someone specific. My grandfather was also drafted to Vietnam with a young son (my dad). Never talked about his experience to me so I have no idea if he ever encountered Agent Orange. But you don't have to convince me about its ill effects or the government fighting its culpability.

He down voted my post about him down voting me. I then posted that. Those guys suffered the rest of their lives for nothing. Sad. Anyone down voting, even if a troll is a POS.

My wife's grandfather was a helicopter pilot with the jolly green giants and made a career being a test pilot for the air force in the years thereafter. An excellent human being, to say the least. So excellent that it gives me goosebumps just thinking about that man.
He was affected by his exposure to it and wound up getting some type of extra funding for his healthcare due to it. It's been years since that went down so I can't remember the details, but it had adverse effects to his health.

Your father was exposed to something when he was 18 and you think he passed down a non-hereditary condition to you that is related to Agent Orange.
It is comical to think there is any correlations to his exposure and your illness. It has certainly never been found in any epidemiological study or peer-reviewed literature from a reputable source. There is no epidemiological study that has ever found a link between agent orange and hereditary illnesses.
There is no evidence that dioxins can mutate DNA sequences. If your sister and you were rats and had birth defects, there is a small chance that was related.
That is the reason you are getting downvoted.

How do you know? Several poster said it might have happened to the children of vets. Did it affect his sperm in some way? Ah, the government released data. Got it. Yeah I trust them MOFO’s. They denied people were even sprayed with it for the longest time. They deny everything and later come back and admit it. Denied it had anything to do with my father’s illnesses. Denied it killed him. The head of the VA is Louisiana was friend of my dads and told him that his brother had all the stuff my dad had and it was agent orange related. It killed his brother. You can kiss my arse.

Yeah had a buddy growing up whose dad was a vet and got a pretty good dose of that shite over there. He died when my friend was like 10 years old from cancer of the everything.

Funny, I just googled it and found multiple articles about the effects on children and grandchildren.

My FIL was a VN vet who loaded trucks and planes with agent orange. Had that skin condition from it (PCT - porphyria cutanea tarda) similar to eczema, but worse. Always wore long sleeves. It was pretty bad. Died of liver cancer at 65. He was not a big drinker. He was a simple man, lived out in the country. Didn’t know until near the end that about the cause of his problems. Never got any gov’t assistance. It’s funny, he had a certain look; long grey hair and beard, with that skin condition. My wife could point out other affected VN vets by that look. I doubted her a few times and after striking up a conversation with the guys she pointed out, they confirmed they were in fact, VN vets who were exposed. Pretty messed up.

My uncle was an enlisted Air Force airman in Thailand at the end of the war. They had stores of Agent Orange on base. He is now struggling with multiple myeloma.

Yes, my dad, and it was determined to be a cause of the cancer that ended his life a couple years ago.

You have not shown me a single epidemiological study showing a correlation.
You link off the all wall websites that clearly says veterans are not scientists (the veterans are the ones saying there is a link, not a reputable doctor or scientific agency) and one that sites a rat study from 2012. As I said before, if you are a rat there is a small percentage chance you there might be some correlation to a birth defect, but not immune deficienices..
I don’t make the science, I just read it and understand it.
Agent Orange wreaked havoc on a Lot of veterans. You trying to credit your sickness to that, with no reputable scientific support, takes away from what they credibly went through.
You Mentioned downvotes. I am telling you it has nothing to do with your father’s wretched suffering from Agent Orange. It is about you making his suffering about you and your sister being sick when there is no reputable science to support that.

No but my great-grandpa took a hit of mustard gas in WWI
Posted on 8/17/24 at 8:28 pm to shadyone2
Same with mine. He flew in the bird dogs. Years later nonHodgkins attributed to Agent Orange. Beat that and died at 72 from lung. I mourn your loss.

BS. Articles states data shows 33% increased chance for Veterans exposed to agent orange to have children with birth defects. They looked at VA data. I guess looking at people exposed vs not and comparing number of defects is no correlation and lying. Got it. My father is one who said it might. The guy above said Vet said it caused his kids ailments. My father hated the government and saw the government commit all kinds of atrocities over there. He never trusted the government when he came home and surely wouldn’t trust their studies on it. Did you even read article? They pay out money to children of vets exposed to agent orange admitting it causes problems. Read the article. Vets are all over in article saying same thing my dad told us - it causes problems in offspring. So I’m stealing their suffering by saying what many vets say. Got it bro.
