Purely anecdotal from friends in peds ER but more children are testing positive and showing more symptoms than before. Those symptoms are still mild but more than before and there are a handful more with concerning symptoms. The big problem is whole families are coming in to be tested and everyone with a stuffy nose is coming into the ER.

Not to be curt, but they have had the opportunity to get their vax (which they all have) and are grown adults that can make decisions on whether they want to attend family functions. So, why would this be a gotcha?

bullshite.

If they are going in with anything, it's either RSV or whooping cough. Both are running rampant (and, because of the whole Covid lockdown/fear bullshite, a lot of kids did NOT get vaccinated for whooping cough last year)

All I know is this: I’ve already heard of more children being sent home from daycares in my area due to another kid having covid than I heard of all last year when kids were actually in school.

I’m not saying kids are dying left and right due to covid but I do fully believe that this strain is infecting kids at a little higher rate than before based on what I’m hearing from people in my own circle, not the media.

Catherine O’Neal start giving complete information & not speaking in general

She gets a bad rap on here because this is a very polarizing and political topic. She's been my infectious disease doctor for years and is one of the smartest doctors I have on my regular rotation of specialists I have to see for my healthcare conditions. I mentioned to her this morning as to why weight isn't being discussed as a risk factor and she said while that was very true in the beginning of the pandemic they are seeing more and more people who are just of normal weight having issues with this.

Have a doctor friend who has been referencing this tragic case of a 37yr old who died from covid for weeks as his tale of caution that it could happen to anyone. Finally, post story about guy, and this guy had to be pushing fricking 400lbs.

Normal weight is obese in Louisiana. Like someone pointed out yesterday, most people don’t see themselves as obese because they think of morbidly obese when they think obese. It doesn’t take much to be obese and there’s probably a 90% that you have high blood pressure (which eventually damages the kidneys), high a cholesterol, and maybe even prediabetes or outright diabetes if you’re obese.

I think kids have undoubtedly been affected by this surge way more than the others.

False. The primary age groups affected are still older people.

Its infecting everyone at a higher rate than before, including kids

However, not a single age group is being hospitalized or dying at a higher rate than before

No, she gets a bad rap because she presents herself as a Karen. She lacks professionalism expected of a physician when presenting information.

She would have far fewer critics if she stuck with the facts instead of making over the top comments. She would also be far more effective.

Data is easy to view from our country and multiple others

Delta is far more infectious

Delta is far less lethal

Regardless of what anyone tries to bring in anecdotal evidence, the above statements are simply facts

This is an observation that some doctors in my family have noted. They aren't as confident in their understanding of the real Covid risk factors that contribute to hospitalization or death as they were a few months ago.

Anecdotal. But probably not any less reliable than the crap people are pulling off of facebook or CNN.

If we want to go ancedotal

7 year old niece on day 10 of covid-zero symptoms

2 year old nephew on day 10- had a runny nose for a few days

So there you go, they are on their last day and thats

But there is no need, we have millions of data points. Delta is more contagious, less lethal

Everyone is more affected than previous ones in terms of infection

Children's rate of infection has not gone up anymore than any other age group

It makes sense that a virus would evolve into being more infections but less lethal. It's natural propensity to survive requires it spreading rapidly through as many carriers that aren't sick enough to isolate. So variants that do that will be the ones that stick around.

Not denying it since it makes sense. But I'm also not sure I trust any 'facts' anymore. We are all making decisions based on incomplete data and sometimes entirely false information.

There is a tremendous credibility problem among American institutions these days.

So............. he needs to get vaccinated so that a vaccinated person won't get sick from the virus they got vacccinated against, because he's not vaccinated.

Got it. lol
