I wish i knew where these "aftermarket" extended warranty people were located so i could send steaming bags of shite to them everytime they call me to tell me this is the last time they are going to call me about the extended warranty on my 2010 Ford Fusion, which i have never owned.
I get that "last call" at least 5 times a week.

I bought a used Ford Expedition, great vehicle, no complaints. Then one day I unexpectedly threw a rod on BeltWay 8 in Houston. I had bought a vehicle warranty from Master Tech when I bought the vehicle. Thank God I did because the motor replacement was $9K all in with a used motor.
Master Tech has been very good to me, professional, responsive, I recommend them for a used vehicle warranty

I agree with this especially with the shitty roads in this State. Wife has a Volvo with low profile tires. Over the life of the car we replaced (not fixed) 6 tires and 2 rims - all covered by the wheel and tire protection.

Just remember that the warranty is a big profit maker for the dealership.
They are negotiable, and they aren't a bad deal if you get it for a good price.
If you're in louisiana, there's a good chance that the company providing the service contract is lds. It's a good deal if you get it for a good price, but a lot of dealers have a very high pack on their aftermarket service contracts, which means that the finance man can sell it to you for "a dollar over cost" and the owner of the dealership would still make good money.
What's the year, manufacturer, and mileage?

2015 GMC Sierra, 5.3....just under 61K.....my warranty thru the dealer is thru 72K so I'm trying to get all the intel I can to make the right decision to buy or not.

They Money guy on the radio, I forget his name. He went on a rant one day about how extended warranties are a scam. He threw out some numbers, I think he said only 23% of all extended warranties have a claim filed for. Then he said that the money spent for the extended warranty would cover the repair 3 times over.

Thanks....I did search and your thread didn't come up. I was/am skeptical of aftermarket extended warranties to start with, just looking for some confirmation.

Yes, it was sold from the dealership as a wrap of the manfuactuerer warranty. The only difference was after the manufacturers warranty expired I had a $100 deductible.
Something in the fuel pump system kept going out and they had to replace the computer system as well on the GC after the MW expired. Very glad I bought it.

It's subjective. There is no blanket answer.
For the guy with a good job and 50k liquid in his checking, it might not make sense, bc the numbers don't make it a good buy and his risk is low.
For the month to month family, who could be crippled by a random $5,000 repair, it could be a reasonable manner to insure against this risk.
Many people would say that paying another company to cover your liability requirements is a waste of money too.
To reiterate: it's subjective.

I can get one for my ford f-150 up to 100k with a $100 deductible for around $1,100. So far in the first 28,000 miles I have had the sunroof rails replaced and the sync unit. Pretty sure I will buy the warranty.

GEICo has something similiar that can be transfered to a new owner with geico. it's a monthly paymt added to your ins pymt. I think it has 250 deducitble though
I screwed up getting it though as I have determined i'm trading it in prior to the warranty ending. Why im hoping to know if possible to cancel it at this point.

I was told at the Toyota dealership that any third party one is basically a scam. He said to only get one through the manufacturer.
