Talked to a guy who's been working on an AI project for a fortune 500 company the other day. He said there is a very specific reason employers are bringing people back to the office. Companies are finding that work that can be done from home will soon be done by AI, so human interaction and interpersonal skills will be the most sought after skillset in the very near future.

I don't give a shite about that. I'm 64 and will be retiring in a few years.

Congrats. Most people went back two years ago.

I did last night, it was glorious.

Graduated LSU in 97 in physics, 00 with an applied physics MS (EE).

This site has a ridiculous amount of security. I’m behind two armed guard gates. Not even sure what you could do with my computer without a badge.

You're over thinking this a bit. 40% of the people at my current client are never here. My manager requires the 12 people that work for him to be on site all the time. Most of it depends on the level of a-hole you work for.

You don't get calls starting at 6:00am?

I most certainly do. But by now I know which ones to answer and the one's that can frick off.
6am is apparently the new start time for people. It used to be somewhat nice driving at 5:30am to get to the office early. These days there is traffic staring to build at 5:30 in my location.

Longer hours, unrealistic deadlines, that's the name of the game!

For people I know and work with a lot, it is texting until 6:30am and calls after that.

Random people get a text reply until 7:30am
