They still pop that number when they have a Stone Cold or Rock come on. That tells you something.
Patterson and Brisco vs the Mean Street Posse did an 8.6 in 99, sounds like they need to bring those guys back.

Those numbers come from Neilsen. Dave Meltzer doesn't just make them up off the top of his head. They do have some sort of way to include dvr and streaming now.

The last raw reunion was actually one of their lowest rated shows.
This tells me that WWE relies far too much on part time talent and big names from the past. They haven't really been able to make new stars since Cena/Orton/Edge were all main eventing shows.
AEW fans like myself don't necessarily care if AEW beats Raw in the ratings, but we want our brand of wrestling to be popular so that it sticks around in the future. If AEW is the clear number two, I could care less so long as I still enjoy the product.

Solid opening rating. If they can hold and build on that, it'll be worth it for the network I'd imagine.

You can look at shows in general and see the ratings drop for pretty much everything other than live sports over the last 20 years.....it's a similar trend....which is why you see the statement "ratings don't matter as much anymore" in all walks of TV.

They also have no idea how accurate it is due to many factors which I'm sure your aware of.
ETA Also just because a show had better ratings doesn't mean it was a better show......the Raw that saw Vince McMahon take his very first stunner from Stone Cold lost the ratings battle to a Nitro where the highest rated match was fricking Ciclope, Juventud Guerrera, Lizmark Jr, and Ultimo Dragon vs La Parka, Psychosis, Villano IV, and Villano V. It was main evented by Curt Hennig retaining the US Title over Jeff Jarrett

First place never mentions their inferiors
Second place can’t keep first place’s names our their mouth
AEW stacked
WWE shook

I remember watching Nitro and Raw, I never gaf who won in ratings. I just enjoyed the shows as each brought something different to the table.
Id watch Nitro to see the NWO and Goldberg spear some mofo's and then Id watch Raw to see Stone Cold beat Vince's arse

Yes this.....I was hoping that AEW would induce the same action....last night wasn't it....they have more opportunities

The streaming numbers aren't included in the national overnight Nielsen sample. They are recorded in a separate product Nielsen uses for digital advertising purposes but are not intermingled with the TV sample yet. Nielsen does have plans to include streaming-only homes into the sample but its still in an "Impact" data phase(impact is Nielsen's word for beta testing).
The overnight numbers posted here only include same day DVR recordings.

Not as much as AEW guys hoping and praying AEW fails. These guys want the 90s back so badly, they’ll trash the product no matter what.
I watched a bit of AEW the other night but other than Jericho, it’s really hard for me to get behind guys like Swagger and Dustin Rhodes. These guys were all barely mid carders in WWE. Dustin has a great run, he really did, but he was a solid mid card guy at the peak of his run.
I just feel like AEW is for the mid carders that could never get to the main event. At this time, I feel like AEW is WWEs castaways. Similar to the independent leagues vs MLB. Can’t make it in the minors (NXT) so joined another league with a bit of money behind it. Maybe that will change, i don’t know. I’ll gve it a shot.

WWE's not going anywhere. No logical person thinks this. Im on WWE and AEW groups on FB, Ill say in MY experience there are more WWE marks invading the AEW chats just to throw shite at ppl who watch it.

Dude, there's literally like 7 ppl on the roster from WWE. Their whole Womens and Tag divisions are ppl/teams who haven't been in WWE. You gotta have some big names to build the young guys into stars.
