While exact figures are yet to be announced, AEW's Dynamite beat WWE's NXT last night in viewership. WWE released the following statement:

quote:

“Congratulations to AEW on a successful premiere. The real winners of last night’s head-to-head telecasts of NXT on USA Network and AEW on TNT are the fans, who can expect Wednesday nights to be a competitive and wild ride as this is a marathon, not a one-night sprint.”

And RAW's number on Monday destroyed both, and Smackdown's number tomorrow will destroy everything

TNA got 2.2 million viewers a time or two. Who cares? When the slide begins, it'll be tough to stop.

What cracks me up is that WWE is framing this as AEW vs. NXT. AEW vs. WWE's 3rd brand. What AEW wants is AEW vs. WWE.

AEW won't be satisfied with beating NXT, they want to beat RAW.

No they don't. I don't know why you keep repeating this when Tony Khan and Cody have both said they aren't trying to compete with WWE. They specifically picked Wednesday so as not to compete. WWE is the one forcing the competition.

I hope they give it all they have and I hope they do it.

I'm just not personally into their roster and won't carve out the time to view the product for the time being.

I don't think there is an actual market for this company that will last more than a couple years, but being wrong on this one would be great for the industry.

Total BS.

The non stop whining and complaining about WWE and how bad it is.

The non stop "X WWE wrestler needs to go to AEW"

The non stop making fun of WWE tarping off seats or having empty seats at events

The non stop cheerleading of WWE's declining ratings for RAW and Smackdown

Moxley trashing WWE on the way out

To say they don't want to compete with and beat WWE is pure foolishness.

None of this comes from AEW unless you think Cody and the Bucks are secretly posting on wrestling forums.

I'm not all that interested in who beats who...I'm sure the ratings between nxt and aew will be very close for a while. I'm just looking for two good products, everyone wins like wwe tweeted/quoted

Competition is good, keeps everyone on their toes and makes them produce the best shows that can.. WE as the FANS can sit back and enjoy. I watch both.I don't get this line in the sand mentality.

Hell, I never got into Game of Thrones, but I also never ran to every GOT thread and shite all over it for those who do. Cmon ppl

Ratings released:

https://www.thewrap.com/all-elite-wrestling-dynamite-ratings-aew-nxt-wwe/

quote:

Professional wrestling’s “Wednesday Night Wars” officially started on cable television last night, when the new weekly AEW wrestling show debuted to 1.409 million total viewers, besting USA Network’s “NXT,” which posted 891,000 total viewers (down 11% from last week’s show).

“Dynamite” more than doubled its competition in the key adults 18-49 demographic, scoring 878,000 viewers compared to “NXT’s” 414,000 (putting the USA wrestling series up 1% from its week-ago broadcast in that metric).
