I had female Fox Terrier that would always go on patio. She had short legs,my theory was she didn’t like grass poking her when she squatted.

That's Terrible advice. A puppy's attention span isn't long enough to connect what they did earlier with the reaction you are giving them. all you are teaching them is to be afraid of you and not to know why

This.

From my experience, I find that dogs respond more to tone than anything. There are things my dogs have done and I will just say in a stern voice "No!" and give them a stare. And it didn't take them long to figure out they were not supposed to do whatever it was.

One of my dogs, she is really active and when she is playing around she will test me every once in awhile. She will grab something she isn't supposed to and take off running, but she doesn't chew it... Its almost as if she knows she isn't supposed to do it, but because it will catch my attention she does it and after she runs around with it and I yell her name in a stern voice.. She then brings it back to me..

Also my other dog will start chasing after her when she does it so its like a game for her.

But that whole sticking their nose in it and give them a slap on their backside doesn't work. And like you say, short attention spans.. So if the dog did it during the day and you come home later and do it, the dog doesn't make that connection.

My old roommate had a basset hound and he was the dumbest animal I have ever encountered in my life. He worked nights so I was always home alone with that idiot at night. He barked non stop and tore everything up. Would never stop trying to bite your toes while sitting on the couch.

Also, he would piss NOWHERE other than three inches from the back door on the porch. I whipped that dog every night, yelled at him, rubbed his nose in it. He didn't give a shite. Right back to the same thing. Get rid of him now because it isn't going to change. Retard breed.

I don’t intend on putting her nose in it. I’ve house trained a lot of dogs and showing it to them and a stern voice, putting them outside does the trick just fine. They generally cower after a while once I just give the look of “did you do this?” And as someone else mentioned rewarding them for going outside; I’ve always done this.

Ruby is house trained now, so that worked. She’s just fixated on the porch now and I was wondering if this was something that was normal and how I could fix it. Apparently I just gotta train her again.

Sonic, now. After I whip your arse, I’m pounding a route 44 cherry limeade and letting my retard bassett lift her leg and piss on your head.
