Here’s Lucy, my Bassett-Pointer-tard.

My lab/Doberman mix started doing this too about a month or two ago. She’s about 4 years old and has never done this in the past. She goes on the patio right outside of the dog door and pisses. It’s driving me crazy. Now I’ve been daily hosing off the area and just did pressure wash this past weekend.
I have to keep the dog door closed now because of it. I won’t allow her to be outside by herself for the time being.
It’s Huge pain in the arse because now my old chocolate lab can’t go outside like he wants and is accustomed. He’s looking at me like “what’d I do???”

I have always put my dogs in a kennel for the first month or so.. At night.. When I wake up, the first thing I do is bring them outside in the grass. They usually have to use it right away in the morning and eventually they start associating doing their business out in the yard
Who downvoted this? This is actually how it's done. Kennel train, treat her when she pisses and shits where you want her to. That will become her spot.

Keep her on a leash at all times and as soon as you get home take her out immediately...not pet her..walk in the door get the leash and walk her..that establishes routine...a HUGE win for you. That basset part will be damn stubborn to use the bathroom but in a specific spot. With my late basset mix, omfg he made it a living hell trying to use the bathroom..and God forbid if a storm was almost on top of us...I'd be yelling..GO POO! GO POO! HURRY!

Actually a small bit of gas added to a spray bottle of water will totally eliminate that smell permanently after u clean it with conventual means. And the gas smell will disperse in like 30 mins.

Appreciate all the tips and pics. She was a pretty dog, RIP! I’m gonna try a combo of them all. Take her on walks, reward her going in the right place and gonna buy that spray.

Lucy looks like she’s a good girl

You have to do this on two fronts: the carrot and the stick.
The stick:
--If you can catch her doing it, get onto her immediately while also picking her up and taking her out to the yard.
--If she does it when you aren't around then stick her nose in it while swatting her backside a couple of times with a loosely rolled paper (the swatting doesn't hurt them but the impact + noise from the paper scares them enough to make them realize what they've done is wrong).
The carrot:
--When she goes out in the yard, praise her a lot. In the early stages make sure you really underscore this by giving her treats.
What I've done is also associate a word with my dog's peeing ("bathroom") and another with her defalcation ("big business") by repeating the word while she's doing it. My dog now knows what "do you need to go to the bathroom" and "go do your big business" mean.
It will take a week or two but if you (as well as any others who can be considered part of your "pack") are consistent the lesson will take. You might have an issue every now than then but just remember to stick with it and everything should work out fine.

I’m working from home most of next week so I’ll give this one a whirl. This feels Iike house training all over again.

That's because it is
I have no idea why she's fixated on your porch, that's a new one. I've had dogs almost my entire life and haven't heard of a female doing something like this (males have always seemed more difficult in breaking because of their greater propensity for territory-marking).

As a puppy our Doxie mix was very very small, 5 lbs and of course short lets. He would play on our back porch with supervision but was not able to go down the steps to the yard yet, so when he had to go, it was on the porch. Now 4+ year later, he still uses the porch. We just accept it and clean up as needed.

Hitting a dog and sticking their nose in their excrement is not acceptable. Where did you get this crap from. Better off with tiny treats each time the dog does the right thing.

Rando is an idiot. If you punish your dog for using the bathroom all you're going to do is teach her to hide from you to use the bathroom. She's a dog, you have to think in the realm of what makes sense to her. When a dog uses the bathroom they think that that is an okay spot to go, you need an enzyme cleaner to break down the proteins in the urine to get rid of the smell completely so that she doesn't keep going in the same spot. to make her go in the yard you have to understand that at 11 months she's still a puppy and still needs your guidance, you need to leash her and take her out to the grass, tell her to do her business and praise or reward her when she does. She will quickly learn that using the bathroom where you approve gets her the result that she wants, which is love and attention from you. eventually, you will be able to just let her out, but not yet. stop being lazy, and parent your puppy.

That's Terrible advice. A puppy's attention span isn't long enough to connect what they did earlier with the reaction you are giving them. all you are teaching them is to be afraid of you and not to know why. If you catch them in the act then you correct and redirect. If not then you clean and move on. who would want a dog to listen to them because they are too scared to know if they are going to get whipped and scared by their leader at any given moment?

I try to walk her to the yard and that occasionally works but I have to basically coerce her to the other side of the yard while she continually tries to walk over to our porch.

I guess you're against spanking children as well?
I've raised dogs for decades, probably since before you were born, and this works every single time. Every. Single. Time.
