What do you want on this truck that is so rare or hard to find?

Disclaimer: I will only buy the vehicle with the specs I want and won't settle for anything other than.
Then you are starting off with your balls in a vice. Don't expect for someone to do more work and you not pay so don't expect a ton of negotiation room.
Agree on price before hand. Pay a security deposit, the amount will depend on the amount of the purchase we typically require at least $1,000 with signed buyers order.

People who always buy something off the lot never seem to understand this concept. You know exactly what you want, and surprisingly it's not always available. Whether it's a Honda or a Maserati.
Every vehicle I've bought has been very particular. One ordered, one dealer trade, and one tagged during assembly.
All have been negotiated the same way as if buying off the lot. Obviously they are more reluctant to deal, but it's no difference. I had to put a deposit down for two of them, both refundable. One guy implied that it would be ridiculous to require a non-refundable deposit. It's not a "custom" build, just a specific collection of available packages.
You are subject to available incentives at delivery, not order. I'm not sure they would let you finalize all the paperwork prior to delivery, but I wouldn't recommend it anyway.

The only answer I have for you is that I don't want to. If I buy a full sized I'd be inclined to get it fully loaded which would be way over what I'm willing to pay. Plus I just like the scheme of the new Colorado's.
You can get a new Sierra SLT All Terrain Crew Cab for less than the sticker price on that Colorado, around $44k. It will have sunroof, nav, heated seats, remote start. What else do you need?

I mean you say that like I'm looking for the lochness monster I just want it fully loaded with a stock red hot or white color scheme. As I mentioned earlier most of the dealers within a 3-4 hour drive just don't have that package and it's probably due to dealer allocation.
I don't know how much the vehicle is but I can tell you that I would quote you at least sticker for the troubles especially if you were as hard headed in my office as you seem to be in this thread. If you asked me to move I would probably tell you that there isn't a lot of room because we don't get as good of concessions on special orders and give you a bullshite number as rock bottom just to make the extra time I would be spending on you worth it.

Hardheaded because I want a vehicle that chevy offers? You realize you've been proved wrong in this thread right?

The frick is this nonsense? I sure hope you aren't actually in car selling business.

You are looking for a "in demand" vehicle.
You are looking for a vehicle that is back-ordered.
You want significant a discount from MSRP.
You want one 150 miles from your location.
You want specific colors and options.
The Loch Ness monster would be easier to find.
There is a difference in ordering a Dodge Caravan when they make 200K of 'em and they are all over the place.
Trying to special order a vehicle that is backordered, meaning the dealer can sell all of his allocation for full MSRP, is not going to happen.
Your only shot is finding one on a lot somewhere, anywhere, that fits your needs.
You will not get a significant discount from MSRP.

And I bet none of them were backordered or new models...
I've seen plenty of cases where dealers did the famous "ADM" on hot/new models.
GM dealers are notorious for this.

No hardheaded because you are expecting for a dealer to give you a hell of a deal on a vehicle that they will have to put more work into plus monitor after the order then on top of all of that you want what seems to be a very in demand vehicle for a low price which means low commission from the guy you want to do all of the work. You will probably get what you are looking for I just don't know if it will all go down the way you want it to.

No I am not but I do know that when you try to special order something that doesn't have enough line space in the factory that you can expect to get an adjusted price and that they won't move as much from it like this guy is thinking they will. The last sentence was bullshite answers you will get for reasons why the price can't move. It's not my fault you don't know what they mean.

I really don't think the OP has ever bought a new car. No offense to him, but you can't always get a better price.
It just depends on the vehicle and something as simple as supply and demand.

Agreed. Usually the ones who are the biggest hard arse about what they are going to do outside crack once they get inside. I was once that hardass.

I mean, I get where he is coming from. I want my vehicles a certain way, too.
Sometimes that means you pay full MSRP and that is a good deal given that other dealers are doing a $10K ADM.

I completely understand. I sell Freightliners and Western Stars. Completely different field but some very slight similarities. We don't really cater to one time purchasing it is more of a large sale annually to the same people type of deal.

Just wanted to update you since your so invested in providing incorrect information. I got off the phone with my good friend who was a gm manager and he put me in touch with two other individuals who are willing to give me $2k off MSRP and the gm military discount.

Congratulations. Check back when the deal is done. Anyone can get your arse in the door with bs it's what you walk out with that makes the difference.

You can keep moving the goal posts if you'd like. I don't care to prove anything to you. You should reread the thread though, you've been proved wrong.

Either way. Good luck and I hope that it works out the way that you have convinced yourself that it will.
