Because if I've learned anything on the OT, it's teachers are severely over worked and underpaid. They have to work like 8, maybe 8.5 hours a day for like 8 and half months per year for median US salary!! Can you believe that! The horror!
ah, well I love sports so i won't mind the longer hours because if you enjoy what you do you'll never work a day in your life. Plus I'm a history buff so that part doesn't bother me as well

I’m going to assume that you personally know absolutely no one who has taught/teaches a core subject in a Title I school.

I don't talk to some of my family anymore, as they are assholes. However, in the past, I would have those assholes apply extreme pressure for me to do stuff. Sometimes I would, sometimes I wouldn't. Really dependent on what it was. The last thing I did was attend a wedding I didn't want to attend (my cousin). I got full court pressure to go, and in the end the relative paid for everything. But it pretty much ended our relationship.

That wasn’t the question.

Teaching health classes at a good school isn’t comparable to teaching Alg I to a bunch of kids who are just waiting until they’re 16 so they can drop out.

Not all teaching gigs are created equal.

Thank god my mom isn't this emotionally fragile.

Same.

I have learned as I've gotten older that I am so fortunate. I've never been forced to go to something or do something I don't want.

The horror stories I hear from people re: holidays makes me so grateful for what I have. I've never been forced to attend a holiday with family if I have something else going on. They just don't put a lot of stock into superficial shite like that. Especially since we see/speak to each other regularly.

Sometimes you have to love people from a distance.

Nope. Counseling.

But I’m glad to see that you’ve lead a charmed life and have never had to deal with a toxic family member.

Yep, even as a kid my mom let me make my mistakes. I love her to death and she doesn't get involved in my stuff

I don't have a bad relationship with them. We have some different outlooks on life and completely different interests. That isn't that confusing.

My mom doesn't make me do anything I don't want to do. But my mom and I are pretty tight. She has done so much for me my whole life, and she still helps me to this day. So when asks me to do something for her, I normally don't have a problem because I know she is good for it.

My fiance' and her mother are totally different. They never talk unless they need something. She hates going home, because whenever she does her mother likes to be controlling and treat her like a child again.

So, I understand both point of views.

I'm pretty sure the past 2 or 3 years though my parents have purposefully acted more like assholes to make sure I don't have any ideas about not leaving the nest
