Vehemently disagree.

You're wasting your time with this argument. There's a certain percentage of people who already hate alcohol, all your doing is arguing who's better, Hitler or Stalin in their minds.

Legalization should happen (for all drugs) because prohibition is worse than legalization. It's that vein of thought that is changing minds.

Also people need to ease up about tax revenues, because a) we should never think about legalizing something because of tax revenues, and b) this benefit dilutes as more states legalize...and LA will be one of the last 10 or so to do it, no matter what

A majority of people in this country do not hate alcohol and a VAST majority of politicians drink alcohol regularly.

I agree its not the best argument, but its something you can keep in your back pocket when arguing over a cocktail with a friend.

Money talks.

If we say "X dollars will go into the school system", that is one of the strongest arguments you can make.

The least effective argument is "personal liberty". It should be the strongest argument, but sadly people in this country are fricking stupid and when you start bringing stuff up like that, they completely lose interest.

Well people are going to basically lie about it by saying because Colorado got some 3rd party to tell them how much money they made in tourism, we should expect the same for us.

And I don't really smoke cigarettes, but sin taxes are terrible IMO.

The point I'm trying to make is that we shouldn't use what argument makes the most sense.

We should be using the argument that works the best. And what works the best is usually something really dumb because our population is really, really dumb.

Like in "Idiocracy" he was trying to explain why water will help the plants grow, but they just couldn't understand, so he said it was "magic" and all the dumbasses were all excited about it

What is your low average yield for a single plant? I've been a casual user for a while. I smoke almost daily but rarely more than one loaded dugout. Less than 1/8th month on average. Very seriously considering a spacebucket and a single plant.

It all depends on how long you let it stay in the vegetative state. Indoors. You control the light. I've heard of people keeping plants for twenty years without allowing it to flower. Just keep 18 hours of light on it.

I'm going outdoor. I kept mine in ten gallon pots, limited their growth. But I didn't want it to grow 10'+, and have it growing over my neighbors fence. They're up to about 5'. I'm expecting about 6-16 ounces per plant, most probably around half a pound.

Depending on how big your grow space is, and the genetics of the strains, you should be able to get at least a couple ounces with a few weeks in veg.

But I'm far from an expert. This is my first grow, and I'm still learning a lot. That's why I'm gonna go indoors after my first harvest (gotta kept it legal since it is legal).

I plan on buying a 2x4' gorilla tent. I'll probably use an led light system, which is more energy efficient, and produces much less heat. I would go bigger, but don't have much extra space in my current house.

There's a thread on the sec rant off topic board you should check out. You'll get better advice in that thread.

LINK

It's been over a month since I've posted in there, but I've been posting pics since I started. Kinda like an unofficial grow log.

There's also some good forums out there, and YouTube videos. I know I'm trying to grow as many times as I can, so that when I move back South, I'll be ready to smoke the best herb possible. I would've done it years ago, if it weren't for mandatory minimums.

Im not sure how serious this post is, but there are some that believe that the gateway theory is real.

The federal government even admitted last week that theory was bullshite.

Marijuana has been a gateway to illegality and black market connections.

Remove the illegality, remove the gateway.

No stoned person is ever like "ohh I'm so high, lets go buy some blow and party all night"

Exactly. But that side of the political fence will use this poll for their purposes. The same way the other side of that fence will use stats like this:

Since marijuana legalization, highway fatalities in Colorado are at near-historic lows

This is when the modern pot strength has hurt it. People that have never smoked, or haven't smoked since they were young, can't wrap their heads around the fact that one hit is all they need. They'll smoke a whole bowl or joint , and will be damn near hallucinating.

I'm in my thirties, so I have no problem cutting someone off after a couple hits. I won't let a rookie hit a dab of concentrate. It can give someone a very bad experience and impression of the drug itself.

But done correctly, with the right amount/dosage, a large percentage of the population would enjoy it. It's definitely the safest substance you can use to relax or party. And I've never had to help someone detox because they stopped using, and were shaking. I've done that a couple times with alcohol, which I also enjoy.

Or the fact a man in LA can spend 13 years in jail for having 2 grams of marijuana.

That is damaging to society.

That was. But that's not the law anymore. Up to 2.5 pounds is a misdemeanor in Louisiana for your first offense. No clue about the second. They went from very strict to lenient.

Florida is the only state where less than an ounce is a felony. I learned that the hard way. But luckily, I was still 17 at the time.

I agree with this.

It's been less criminalized in areas where people understand the prison situation and realize that over criminalization is a very bad thing. In fact, the drug war virtually parallels the alcohol prohibition era where people actually thought prisons would empty, and instead violent crime went up.

Appealing to reason will eventually win over enough converts. Appealing to increasing government revenues and comparing it to other (in some areas) legal substances isn't going to change a lot of minds IMO.

It's legal in my state, and it will be legal nationwide in 10 or 15 years, whether you're behind it or not. Your time would be just as well spent pissing in the wind as it would be opposing legalization.

That's the type of argument I agree with. I think the black market argument shouldn't be made for every single thing, but for something this prevalent, it's pretty obvious how huge of an effect it is.

I think we all hate the sin taxes. But marijuana smokers ate sick of being criminals. We'll accept damn near any compromise.

And while I am adamant about legalization, I am absolutely fine with it being treated like alcohol. Any city or county can ban alcohol. There plenty of dry counties. And many of the largest cities in Colorado don't allow recreational marijuana sales. And that's how it should be. But if I'm in Colorado Springs, I won't go to jail for possessing it.

If those cities don't want the tax revenue, that's cool. I'll buy it somewhere else. And everyone is happy.
