My fluffy golden retriever bosses the shite out of our neighbor's stout pit rescue. The pit is extremely submissive to my golden (they are friends though).

Went to the shelter to get a puppy about a year after our 13 year old dog died. All the dogs were barking and going crazy except for two little sister pups with their heads on top of each other, looking forlorn. Heard Sarah Maclachlan music in my head. Had to have them.
They conned the shite out of us.
But they're awesome. Glad we did it. I like having two dogs. Also have brother cats. Regular Brady Bunch set up.

Someone dumped two on us. They were at least a year old and weren't that interested in becoming our dogs. For a week we fed them, and tried to interest them in us. They simply wanted to play with each other, and we were getting no where trying to train them to "Come eat".
We took them to the no kill because they were good dogs, but training two near-adult male dogs was beyond our abilities.

Just do it. There are pros and cons. Just give them pups a good home.

Didn’t even see that response. I didn’t say he kicked the pit’s arse. He’d have gotten mauled in a fight. Pit snapped at my stupid friendly coon hound and he came from the side and smashed into the pit to defend her.
He’d have died if it went further than that.

Been taking mine to doggy daycare a couple days a week and he doesn't want to leave so I'm thinking about getting him a little buddy

Had littermates once. Good except their life expectancy is the same.

It's not advisable to get two puppies from same litter.
There's a likelihood that they have such a close relationship with the sibling they don't form attachment to the human family as much.
I have read several books over the years about dogs and puppies, and a few mentioned this.

The only thing about having two pups is that you never really know which one shite in the house or chewed up your best shoes. Unless you install surveillance cameras. Otherwise, it is twice the love and joy.

It's true. They will be a pack to themselves. You have to make a point to insert yourself into it. One will be dominant. Could make them nippy, which can be an issue depending on size of dogs and size of your kids.

If they are opposite sex and not neutered, I would think you would not want them from the same litter,right?

Years ago went to adopt a dog for my then 4 year old daughter (now 14). Went to a "kill" shelter in West Monroe.....came across a couple of puppies and my daughter picked a bob-tailed mutt that was in a pen with his solid black plain sister. Shelter lady made the comment that she "figured that someone would pick the bob tail but that sister didn't have a chance". Well I took them both.....bob tail didn't make it a year but sister, Oreo, is still a joy to our family, more than 10 years later! Get two or more!!
