Noble Prize worthy.

Second time in a week someone on tOT mentioned that prize. Who gives those?

First, thrilled to see young people vibing on math. Good for everyone involved.

However, a diminishing series is not a proof. It is essentially a limits approach that get gets you very close, but it is not a proof.

If it were a proof, the Pythagorean theorem would be a law.

If it were a proof, they would collect the bounty on Beal's conjecture, and also prove up Fermat's Enigma.

But alas, it is not. A diminishing series is just that. But it does not prove this theorem.

Still, congrats to these curious minded young people for getting into it and working so hard.

There is no Nobel prize for math. Mathematicians can win the Fields Medal

They ended up using some infinite series along with trigonometric identities.

Obviously.

So can some baws building a deck prove it with a tape measure equilibrating the diagonal length of the deck corners both ways, therefore squaring a deck of all 4 corners at a 90 degree angle without using a square?

Sure. I’m suppose to believe 2 teenagers out thought the greatest mathematicians in world. Guys with 180 IQ’s. This isn’t Good Will Hunting.
