There have been quite a few kids who had really memorable (maybe not starring) roles in movies/shows but acting didn't pan out or they decided Hollywood wasn't for them.

Any of the kids from The Neverending Story
Any of the kids in The Sandlot
The boy from Hook
Fred Savage - Didn't do much acting after The Wonder Years. Really only one memorable role in Austin Powers. He's done far more work directing and producing.
