I think if something like this with multiple shooters was going to happen anywhere it would be in Idaho.

Given the press conference I just posted, it sounds like this case is likely multiple and highly coordinated. They’re talking about it could end up a multi-day deal. Which makes me think it’s likely one of those crazy arse militias up there.

It is perfect terrain for them to stay hidden. It will take thermal imaging to find them, then they're still dealing with heavily-armed mass murdering types. IF if is more than one, that changes everything.
ETA: Plus, you still have the damn fire, which I haven't heard any updates on. If it is still burning......what a terrible situation.

It is different. The unreliable nature of eyewitness testimony is amplified in mass shooter incidents and this isn't exactly that, both in terms of the shooting and audience witnessing.
That doesn't eliminate the possibility of the mistake but it decreases the likelihood of the same meme occurring, I'd imagine.

They have it on helicopters, too. Some of the choppers used to support wildland firefighting have it already.

I was just adding that they have equipment, too. I'm sure it isn't perfect, though.
Hell, finding them is only a small part of the response at this point. Apprehending or neutralizing them is the hard part if they choose to hole up somewhere.
