Just as a note, UAB Highlands is separate from the main UAB Hospital.

Sounds like, as of now, that there have only been two people shot. No word on their conditions.

Prayers out.

According to a report that Fox 6 News in Birmingham has gotten is that the gunman shot two people and then shot themselves.

On the bright side, If I had to choose a place to get shot, it would be at a hospital.

Birmingham Fire Department Captain says there are three victims.

EDIT: not clear if that is three plus the suspect or three including the suspect.

Arm doctors and nurses jokes incoming.

Meanwhile, let's not forget that hospitals have armed guards so this is still extremely rare.

Highlands is a hospital but not a very good one for that kind of situation. It seems like they have pretty much turned into more of a clinic type of hospital.
