Yep. What I find strange is a simple echo is not part of pediatrics early in a childs life. Vaccines, checkups etc etc but never an echo unless there is an event(which is often too late) It is amazing how many things could be prevented

A kid dying while in the care of someone who is supposed to be looking out for their well-being?!? 1/10 troll job.

Not a troll job. I think on a list of 1000 greatest fears as a parent probably the last 653 involve the death of a child. But im not sure this would be the absolute worst one. Seemed hyperbolic. "Worst nightmare" or "Worst case scenario" is almost always a hyperbole and a throw away saying.

I was an echo tech at one time and participated in a few screenings for high school athletes. We also scanned incoming LSU athletes with questionable cardiac exams. I remember a few borderline LVOT obstructions from athletic HCM, but I never saw any personally that failed a physical.

Retired PE teacher here. Had a kid die in my clas about 8 yrs. ago. He had an pre existing unknown heart condition. I preformed cpr and used the defibulator on him. Died on way to hospital. His grandparents( guardians) sued me and EBR schools system. EBR settled for an undisclosed amt.

The kid could have had heart problems.

They may have had an AED machine on hand, maybe not. I'm speculating.

But that's my guess.

Wtf is the point of this thread? To offer condolences to someone you don't know that won't read it about the loss of someone you don't know? To rush to express an emotion (I.e. "How horrible") that literally everyone thinks. Some of you people think TD is real life. Like we are at the funeral home and the shite that gets said in here must be said accordingly.

Obviously it's terrible and I feel for the parents.

If your sister was at Uhigh, our sisters were in the same class. Died on a beach vacation with his family. Terrible.

You don't know that. His/her brother/sister may post here. You see, it's not all about you. This over inflated sense of self worth is some thing you will grow out of someday.

You got it. I vividly remember when my parents told me about it. They had tears in their eyes. I'm never going to forget that.
