Has anyone had any issues with the po-po regarding the placement of the dashcam? Not only for Louisiana but in other states such as Texas, Oklahomer,Missippy, Abalama, Arkansas, Tennessee, or North Carolina

The one I'm installing has a front and rear camera for inside the car and the best place to place it is on the top part of the windshield next to the roof.

I am not sure if that counts as an obstruction in the eyes of the law or not.

Anyone with experience?

Here's my setup, plus I have a rear camera on the inside of the back glass of my camper shell.

I hard wired mine and son's.

No popo issues.

Also installed this in my son's car yesterday. Forward facing, rear facing, and interior.

Mine is mounted behind the rearview mirror in all three of my vehicles. Makes it less obvious

Never had a problem and mine hangs just below the rear-view mirror. I want it to be obvious. For obvious reasons.

It doesn’t matter how you place the device. If a law enforcement officer wants to write you up, he or she will issue a citation. The officer might be fully aware a judge might rule differently but there are no consequences for the officer for writing frivolous tickets to punish you.

And if it’s not a ticket for an obstructed windshield, it will be a ticket for an obstructed license plate, or tail lamps not working when they really do, or following too close, or crossing the center line, or or or…

You can beat the rap but not the ride.

Install your camera and don’t let fear of bad people doing bad things to you dissuade you.

Thanks to y'all. The world has gotten stupid these days and just wanted evidence in case of retards trying to give the billboard lawyers some business.

I mounted mine just to the left of the rearview mirror because of some shading on the windshield that prevented the suction cup from holding.

If we get a ticket, so be it.

The problem is not the citation itself; it is the fact that you give them grounds for a pretextual stop.

I like the way the fitcamx installs. I’m ordering one for my new ride. And the install is super simple. Rear cam is the same work. But most fronts are plug and play with no exposed wires.

Put the front mount above the as1 line. Hang the lense just under the tint strip if you have one.

This is 411/advice from dash cam mandacturers.

Never had any issues from 5=0 about it..

How long before this is standard in vehicles? Seems to be at least as useful as rearview cams.

Why would a police officer care if you have a dash camera? They are not illegal.

What are you trying to say? You expect us to believe the police are going to haul you in for the shite you listed? All you’re getting is a summons unless you show your arse. Then you get whatever you deserve.

Police don't seem to care about illegal tint, or road violations, or much of anything anymore.

I've had all kinds ... some aftermarket installed and one factory installed (technically not a dash cam, they call it a TeslaCam, but still) ... the aftermarket cams I've never been asked about.

Radar detectors are another story.

Sticking stuff to the windshield is illegal in some states. Virginia I think as an example.

Right now, I can't recall the brand I bought off Amazon, but it's front, inside, and a rear camera. I added a 256 mb card instead of the small one that came with it.

This one is just plug and play with plenty of wire to stuff in the upholstery gaps of a SUV.

I haven't tested it in a wreck simulation but believe from the reviews, that I have what I need.
