I haven't seen checkpoints in Baton Rouge in a long time. They used to have them every weekend in that 2012, 13, 14 stretch. Their grant money or federal funding must have run out.

Man I started a thread about this very topic about a year or so ago. You’re right, I never see or hear about them anymore. It was like they were all conducted within a 3 year span, as you mentioned.

Checkpoints all seem to crop up in late december. Any tickets written goes to 2017 budget and they must be short right now. They'll be speed traps, checkpoints for proof of insurance, and expired break tags. Happens every year around this time.
