Kind of a dumb thing for the owner to do imo. If your workers make more than other fast food employees because of the optional tips they receive than it should be a way to attract a higher quality of employee.

its definitely cheap and sketch as hell. never heard of fast food employees getting less than min wage + tips. thats for wait staff at sit down restaurants pretty exclusively and the owner is still supposed to make up the difference if tips dont average out to above minimum wage

I knew something was off today when I was at Sonic. I forgot to tip. In fact, I may have forgotten to tip the last time too. Now that they've finally made it easy to pay at the screen, it's easy to forget. It makes it more like a regular fast food restaurant when you don't pay via your server.
