My shoes actually get used more than you assume. I still use my legs and feet to do shite.. But in prison, they don't just sit in a cell all day, depending on what part of jail they are in, they get time in the yard. They can play basketball, etc, etc, etc..

If you went to jail, you would probably get your shoes taken every time you got a new pair.

If I went to jail I’d wear slippers or go barefoot. I hate wearing shoes

I just got orange sandals. I can’t remember if anyone had regular shoes. Probably the ones who were there for a while.

Ummmmmm no.

Depending on what level they are and whether they have a job in prison or take classes, they can get several hours of recreational time.

Now if you are in the SHU, you might get up to an hour, but not everyone in prison is only allowed 1 hr in the yard.

You can't send stuff to a person in prison.

Family can't send them stuff.

They get a standard pair of shoes that everyone gets

If they want, they can buy some from the prison commissary. However, neither you or their family can send them any money. They must work in prison to earn it.

Believe it or not, you can't even send them stamps.

I can't remember exact details, but the rules for anything coated or with adhesive have changed a lot recently because folks were putting LSD in the adhesive so that the prisoners could lick it off and trip out.

Here is a federal prison commissary list.

Fairly extensive

Rules are pretty shitty for the prisoners.

Believe it or not, there is no parole in federal prison. You will serve just about all of your sentence, except for accumulated time earned for good behavior.

I have a good friend (68) in Federal prison, about half way through a five year sentence.

Uhh, that's not true at all. You can send money through Western Union to a federal inmate as long as you know which facility they're at and account number.

Female cousin was guilty of a felony so off to Tallulah she went. Once she was there, we were given a restricted list and an address for the inmate to get the items from (Wlakenhorst). They were allowed one pair of shoes, shower shoes, a few sock, etc. - ONLY what the prison deemed "necessary"

Once a year they were allowed to have a "Christmas package" which is again a specific list that we bought for her but were allowed to get such things from Walmart this time. One towel, 2 pairs of socks, etc.

They also had a commisary but that was just snack items and hygiene basics.

Each prison is different. This one didnt even allow you to have color pencils or even draw with your pen or pencil .
