Stay at parents. Profit.

If not he made a very poor choice with that 200k. Interest rates in the 3s right now

The same report says that 37% (2018) and 27% (2019) aren't saving at all. So it is actually 24% of 73% of millenials have 100K saved, 17%.
17% of the 24-41 age bracket, which ISN'T all millenials. So the majority of that 17% is obviously going to be in the 35+ bracket.

No one makes people go to college,
Tell that to the job statistics where college grads make more on average than those who dont go to college.
Also, our entire education system is set up for people to go to college.

worked in a plant at a good job
these jobs are still there and don't require college, they are just tough to get because people who get them, keep them forever. It is like trying to be an elementary teacher in a small town, when you get the job they stay until they are 70.
I have a buddy who is a lineman in a town of 6k people that makes 45 an hour. I have another buddy, same town, that works at the nuclear plant in maintenance making about 35 an hour. Good jobs are out there to be had if you are willing to do what you need to get them and keep them. And our town has dirt cheap cost of living.

I disagree. Theres a high turnover in both crafts and operations everywhere I've been. Lots of dumb kids that think theyll show up and rake in 150k a year and still be home for christmas and their kids ball games. The ones who are smart and work have a good job for life if they want it. The money's there for those who are willing to go get it.

Just tell that to the entire group of parents, teachers, and other school administrators who repeated over and over for 12 years that college was the only goal after high school.
Still, getting student loans for anything other than degrees that will get you high paying jobs is silly. Too many people have student loan debt with shitty degrees that got them jobs that can't pay them off quickly.
