A notable lack of giant deaths in 2015

All in all, it was a relatively quiet year for death in 2015.
Probably the closest we came to giants of their fields were Jackie Collins, the novelist, Moses Malone, the basketball player, Ernie Banks, the baseball player, Leonard Nimoy, the actor, and the two Kings of music, B.B. and Ben E.
But we lost no one of the magnitude of John Lennon or Ronald Reagan or Michael Jackson or Robin Williams.
Personally, the most upsetting deaths of the year were Paul Prudhomme, Donna Douglas, and Allen Toussaint for their connections to Louisiana, and Vincent Bugliosi and John Nash, a couple of my heroes. The saddest was Beau Biden, because no parent as nice as Joe should have to suffer like that.

Yeah... Dean Smith, Jerry Tarkanian, and Guy Lewis.... all three are giants of college basketball.... it's just that college basketball is not very important to the vast majority of people.
