I don't know enough about these leaks or anything because I'm not some tech nerd....but to think this is anyone other than the US Govt. is ridiculously naive.

When you think the USA is "one of the most corrupt", go ahead and read about Gazprom, or North Korea selling employees (slaves) to work in European factories, or the various military overlords running governments in Asia Minor

I'm not talking about communists/socialists. Your government knows how to manipulate terminology and media sources to spell out unicorns and rainbows. You know, propaganda. Those people don't care about you. They don't care about me. They're in it for themselves and they do just enough to keep your freedoms and rights to allow you to live a happy life all the while keeping your mouth shut.
Until more people realizes how corrupt and greedy these people have become, there's nothing a small minority can do about it, unfortunately.
IMO, it'll be interesting to see where this country will be in 20 or so years. If it's still in tact.

For sure? No. The odds are extremely low though.
Most likely this is just a random hacker or group of hackers simply seeing if they could take down a major service provider.
To assume it's to stop any potential Assange info doesn't even make sense b/c to do that would require the shut down of every single major social media network which has not happened.

that's the beauty of cyber attacks. It could LITERALLY be anyone. Many attacks are orchestrated by a group of users hidden behind VPN Tunnels and hundreds of "hops" around the globe.
There are gov't backed cyber units in every developed country. Some have the mission to steal state secrets, others have missions in cyberwarfare, identity theft, and financial crimes such as ransomeware and bank fraud.
If you think the US is the only country capable of this style attack, you sir are the naive one
