Family from Michigan stranded in New Orleans after truck's tires stolen

quote:

Donald and Fabiola Andre had planned a two-week international trip with their two young children to celebrate their 15-year wedding anniversary, starting with a 13-hour drive from Michigan to Louisiana.

New Orleans was their first stop to visit family in the area for Christmas before driving to Orlando, Florida, and then flying to islands in the Caribbean. But the Andres have canceled their theme park plans in Florida and will miss their flight out of Orlando because they are stuck in New Orleans.

$5k for wheels and tires? That seems a tad high.

It seems like rim and tire theft isn't nearly as common now as it used to be.

Honestly that’s the least of their worries. No one was shot in the face, so they’re winning.

They could have stayed home and done that in Detroit.

I think it should be mandated that New Englanders and Modwesterners spend a couple weeks in NOLA, Jackson, or Baton Rouge to complete their education.

The family said a local tire company gave the Andres an estimate of $5,043.52 to get them back on the road.

This is the most Louisiana part of the story.

Yet the gun grabbers will assure you that police will be at your house to protect you if the need arises.

Exactly, they probably told them the story and the owner was like shite you are stuck in a shitty situation let me bend you over and make as much profit as I can. We both know you don't have another option.

Detroit is 17 hours driving if you drive straight through and stop for gas/food. Hardly “way more”

In an update Thursday, hotel management contacted WDSU to report they are working to get the parking company to pay up. Several viewers have also reached out to the family to help them, and the New Orleans chapter of the NAACP is also getting them assistance.
