I did even better back about 1989. I worked for a Consumer Loan company, not a payday lender one of the less than bank quality but better than payday types. Had to go out and knock on doors for about 7% of the delinquent loans at the end of every month to get close to 3% delinquency at month end.

Well, one of the chronic late pays was a JW family. 2 days after leaving a note on their door I got a knock on my apartment door. It was the wife and another woman out proselytizing for JW.

Talk about a white woman! She saw me and started immediately visibly sweating and shaking, turned white as a ghost! Was so funny to grin ear to ear and very, very, very, briefly tell them "no thx" and then a "I'm sure we'll see each other later".

Amazing how the next day that late account was up-to-date and never late again.

Or you could just not answer the door

For some reason, it pisses me off when they come around my neighborhood and eventually come to my house.

I don't do anything. Once I see it's JW, I continue doing what I am doing. One time, was during football season.. It was early afternoon. I had a few people at my house and I told them just to ignore them. Just act like no one is at the door. I have a big window near the front door. If the curtains are open, you can look right at the person who is at the front door.. And they can look through it. If someone is in the living room, they can see.

They rang the doorbell and we were just watching the game, talking to each other. One of my friends was on the couch and was looking right at them, they waited for I guess a half of minute, then knocked on the door. They started to look like they felt awkward because we were right there and they were just standing around.. So as soon as they knocked, they left. It was funny, but what are they trying to accomplish when they go door to door?

I paid $5 for a "Bhagavad Gita as It Was" or "Is" or some such from a Hare Krisna in the Memphis airport when I was a kid. The book was saturated in that incense smell.
