How much water intrusion, lack of maintenance, and neglect does it take for this to happen? It had to have been distressed for years right?

NEW ORLEANS — A home on Bruxelles Street in the Dillard neighborhood collapsed Sunday, according to the New Orleans Fire Department.

Firefighters responded to a one-alarm collapse at the location. It is unclear if there are any injuries at the moment, and the cause of the collapse is still unknown.

House just gave up. Tired of living in that shithole most likely.

Do firefighters classify everything under the alarm rating system?

looks like it's been vacant for a long time - "house" is a stretch - that was a vacant building

Look at the shoddy construction on that thing. It's a wonder it hasn't collapsed sooner. I don't see how those "stilts" on the left passed code.

Whatever it was they used that cheap vinyl siding to cover it up.

Oh I see.

Yeah I’m not sure if that was a smart move. But THAT house is still standing. And you know at least that one part doesn’t have termites.

It's the one next door to that. And if you look at historic pictures the wall has been bowing out for over a year. Also as I posted above, it's a "music" place. I'd assume without a doubt the structure got exposed to occupancy and stress levels not anticipated when they built it.
